I've ready most of the books, and I started getting disappointed that they've veered so far off from the books. I don't mind them changing and making things different, but I just wish they would keep true to some of the big events/situations that happens in the books.
BTW, why does Vanessa have hair? In the books, she's bald and a very serious film maker!

This is probably one of the only shows I'm glad that it doesn't stick to the books. Big fan of the show the way it is.

I almost prefer that they don't stay with the books because I feel like the show would be too predictable. They're kindof letting the story unfold on its own rather than following the books too closely. It would be nice, though, to keep some of the big happenings from the books in there.
Plus, Chuck Bass is much better as a conniving a-hole (like in the first couple books) than he is as a gay nutjob with a monkey.
I think the reason Vanessa isn't bald is because it's a teen drama and the kids wouldn't understand the social significance of hipster Vanessa with no hair. They'd probably just think she's ugly.

and now we know that that was foreshadowing for this weeks episode. I like Blair as a character, but only when she is confident. When she gets all sappy, she loses her wit. She was perfect in this episode, but she will come back now all hurt for a summer with Bass, and it will be super emo.

I was really disappointed with last night's Season Finale, especially with Georgina's demise. Surely she could have gone out with more of a bang.

I agree. Aside from Blair's "crazy bitch" line it was a weak ending for Georgina. All the stories fizzled out. There weren't really any cliffhangers. It was just, well lets throw some couples together and we'll see if anything actually happend with them after the summer. Kinda dull.

OTW and Geoff, I thought Georgina was going to be a series regular next season? Or was that just a BS rumor?
I really liked aspects of the finale. Chuck/Blair FTW. Darn you Bart Bass for lecturing your son about the responsibility of relationships!
I am predicting a Vanessa/Dan romance over the summer. Not as sure about the the Serena/Nate relationship that was also hinted at.

I'm not too sure either.
This says it isn't confirmed, but a whole bunch of TV gossip sites all say she is.
Regardless, GG gets an extended season 2!

My thoughts:
I can’t believe Dan hooked up with G
or that he finds it impossible to forgive Serena
I liked Chuck and B together
and wasn’t happy that his dad’s speech freaked him out
I also liked V and Nate together
and I don’t want to see S and Nate hook up
It’s about time Rufus grounded Jenny back to planet Earth
But couldn’t believe he and Lilly slept together
Did NOT like this season finale!
BTW, I watched a few episodes before I read the first few books...so I didn't have the books to compare to when the show started.

I'm thinking about reading the books over the summer. And there's about to be another spin-off series correct?

Yes. There's already the "It Girl" series which features Jenny at boarding school. And the first book of the new series about the Carlyle triplets was just released.

After the first few episodes, the tv show barely had any of the plots from the books. At least with this season finale, I can see a few more of the book storylines coming in to the show.
I'm reading the prequel to the series right now and it took me a few chapters to make the shift from TV Gossip Girl to book Gossip Girl.

Ohhhh, Dan is so freaking judgemental. Serena is better off without him. And this also leaves room for LILY AND RUFUS! Lily will be bored once the renovation job is over, and Bart won't hold any excitement for her. I love Waldass, or whatever they're calling Blair and Chuck.
