im really not going to comment on what AF said, but seriously this is a message board, not a place for people to make rude comments to others. If you wanna do that go someplace where someone actually cares. ..
anyways,
I am a sophmore, obviously i was just initated last April. My chapter CLEARLY doesnt know all the rules, or processes, nor did my prez let me know when I told her that this process takes time.
so yeah, i was fusterated because this fusteration has just been a build of different situations that have happened! I began to not take my chapter seriously. there was NO sisterhood there. half the time girls wouldnt show up for meetings, go to events, etc. Our school had a panhellnic(sp?) car wash to raise money. I wanted to go, because you know car washes are fun and I wanted to raise money. All the girls in the other sororities went(there were 2 other sororities). Did any of the ABC girls show up? Only I and another girl, and THATS it. hmm...sounds like great sisterhood to me.
Just little things like that really bothered me, but I didnt switch schools because of the sorority. I switch for other reasons that I wont justify on here.
Yeah, but now with going on this and asking for advice, I got my questions answered, and for future reference I now know that process takes time

Maybe you and skylark should become BFF and go start your own flame-free messageboards that's just like GC except everyone there is nice (as long as you're buddy-buddy with the admins) and steal threads from GC without changing the wording, and encourage everyone and their dog to AI. OH, WAIT...

Ok, look...
That was a JOKE about the whole space-time continuum thing. That's why my next sentence started with, "But seriously..."
If you can't take that kind of joke, then you're the one who should go someplace where someone actually cares.
Oh, and by the way, it's FRUSTRATED, not fusterated. And I'm not being rude by pointing that out.

There IS a spellchecker. When you're posting, if you look in the grey toolbox, up towards the top right.
It looks like this:

it's a program known as iespell. it's an internet explorer attachment (free). I have firefox at home and that does automatic spell check, and i put this program for my computer at work, and it seems to work pretty well.

sheesh, if i judged my sorority's sisterhood based on our turnout to certain events... im sorry, you just sound like a loser to me. a grammatically-incorrect drama queen that can't get her story together for a message board. there's no other way to say it. whoops, let me go make rude comments where somewhere cares.

you do realize that everytime you say that, the reason(s) changes slightly. you were open to telling us why before (something about the school not having your major, which is legitimate to me) but now you're all shady?
p.s. see all the bolded words? if you hit F7, you mightve known that you.can't.spell.

Ok. Picture this...
you are going to a school with lets say 4,000 students. ABC and XYZ are at Total with 40 girls and EFG is lets say 30.(I am in ABC and we had 40 after rush)
Its meeting time. only about 14 girls show up to a MEETING!!! then your prez e-mails the chapter say "hey..lets all get together tonight to watch Greys, some of SPJ(frat) will be there to" that e-mail was just sent out to for all of us to hang out as a group together..5 of us go, including myself. I being the only girl in my pledge class.
Its greek week, the only time that ABC participated was for the "unknown" keg race.
then again that car wash.
when people dont do things together as a group, which is the reason y we are all in it, makes it seem like they dont care, which is most defiently the impression I got as my new memeber period went on. I would of DP, but I decided to wait it out, I thought "its going to get better, its going to get better" the girls were ALWAYS consistanly with their boyfriends..constantly. The only time i felt sisterhood, was during ritual or when we HAD to be together.
I guess I was just disappointed.
and I left my school yes, because they didnt have my major..
I've just typed that so many times, that I felt I didnt have to anymore
I think half way through the semester

I can't remember if you were going to a bigger school (I think you were) but don't judge the new school's chapter on the old school's. They could be completely different and you could love it at your new school. And it could be that you would have never had a snowball's chance in hell at BEING in that chapter in your new school if you hadn't already initiated. So maybe this all happened for a reason.
Small school systems are not like big ones. There are often people in the groups that aren't very "gung ho" and think things like intramurals and Greek week are a stupid waste of time. You happened to join a really un-gung ho group. That's life. If you stuck around you might be able to change it, but it's a moot point since you're leaving due to your major.
And I have no idea what national group you're in, but I'm guessing due to the size of your old school it's one of the smaller ones. The smaller national groups do not have the staff that the larger ones do and sometimes things take longer.
And yeah...spell check and leave mom out of it.

yeah, I hope I like them. They are known here as the prettiest and kinda slutty group, but I went to the information meeting and they had all the tables set out, and immediatly after they dismissed the meeting and asked the girls to go look around, almost everyone went toward ABC. I mean I just have to wait until the prez says I can meet them and hang out with them as ABC, and your right they might not be the type of girls I'd like to hang out with or they can be the girls who I absolutely loveee. Who knows?
i am not going to say which group it is, but it is one of the smaller organization. They dont have nearly have as many chapters as DZ or phi beta pi (i think thats rights), so It was very hard to find a school that was in a reasonable amount of distance ( I am actually 12 hrs away from home now, but thats as far as I will go)and that had my major, which is to say the least not that common.
It kinda sucks, I felt like (i dont wanna say screwed) but for lack of a better word, screwed. just because at my old school they made such a big deal about having so much fun, getting the best grades, etc. and yeah, I did feel comfortable around them, so I felt like I made the right choice, but still the fact that you say they are gung ho, is SO true!

I thought people in your old house never showed up to anything and you were fed up with them?
You are so confusing.

Not if you pronounce it properly.
And why won't you answer AlphaFrog's question -- why did you start this thread when, according to you, the paper-work was received at your new campus before you started this thread? I don't know whether you're on the up-and-up or not, but you really do seem to have a hard time keeping your story straight. I'm just sayin' . . . .

OMG ---deactivate now, please!!!! Save another chapter of your GLO from having to experience your own personal brand of sisterhood. If you can really call this second chapter <<the prettiest and kinda slutty group>> then you really don't belong with them and they certainly would be better off without you. Sisterhood is based on ideals that don't encompass members like you who seem to take, and take. Ask yourself this: what can you give back, and what will you give back????
It's like President John F. Kennedy's famous quote: "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." A GLO can be compared to one's country, and both require a great degree of loyalty from its constituents. And---look!!! I never even ran spellcheck (I rarely use it, I don't have to). But---maybe if you stayed, one of your new chapter sisters could teach you how to actually write.
Just what will you contribute to your GLO, both the national as a whole and the new chapter that you seem so intent on joining?

I find it seriously offensive that you would compare undertaking the duty to serve one's country with undertaking elective membership in a social organization...
Sorority membership is nowhere on par with serving your country, and I'm getting a little tired of people treating their sorority like it is a sacred religion.
I am also not into this new trend of Greek Chatters finding new reasons to jump all newbies for their spelling or mis-speaking a comment here or there. Sometimes it is warranted. Most of the time... not so much. I'm all for having a laugh as much as anyone else... but seriously? President Kennedy wasn't talking about sororities.
What the hell is wrong with you people? Or maybe I'm the one with the misplaced priorities...
