pilates

Pilates must be one EXCELLENT hustle! My gym gives new members a complimentary pilates session (with the machines and everything) and I must admit that it was GREAT. Then she told me that each session costs 100 DOLLARS!!!

Man that is ridiculous. There is no need to sell drugs if one can get certified to be a personal trainer doing pilates.

All that said- great workout- it really worked muscles I don't usually focus one and I feel it in my core today. It just ain't 100 DOLLARS worth of great.

I fit into my very favorite business suit that I haven't worn in two years today. It was a wonderful feeling.

You know what kills me about this? One of my Pilates instructors told me that when you don't use the machine, you depend on your own muscles more for the workout and so you get a better workout. I thought to myself, "How do y'all make money, cuz who would choose the lesser workout that costs more money?????" It doesn't make sense? They never have to worry about me bein' on a machine. Ball class or mat class. That's it.

I've lost another pound. In 6lbs, I will be at a HEALTHY weight according to my BMI. I'm happy!!! Untoned flab and all, I'm still happy!!!

They make money because of the marketing Soror, plain and simple. People want the cool workout, not the one that is economical. The expensive one is the one all the famous people do (speaking of which- I saw Cameron Diaz at my gym!), so that's what people want.

YOU GO WITH YOUR 6 POUND GOAL!!!!!!! Congratulations! My goal right now is another 7 pounds, or until I fit into my hs graduation dress. Keep us updated!

Girl, you GO!!! You can do it (in Tony Little's voice)!!!!!!

Update? I'M OUTTA THE 170'S!!!! As of this morning (yes, I weigh daily otherwise I'll be 200lbs next week) I am 168.5!!!!! I've lost a total of 78.5lbs so far! I am down to a 4.5lb goal (my math was way off last week)!!!!! That will put me at 164 which (at 5'8") gives me a BMI of 24.9 which is technically A HEALTHY WEIGHT!!!!! It's not my final goal, but if I could just get HEALTHY. Next week (cuz this week I'm still broke) I'm starting my 12-week makeover. I have to find out my percent body fat. How much will I have to spend on calipers? Or can I get my %bf taken somewhere without joining a gym? I'm hoping that at the end of my 12 weeks, not only have I dropped these last 15 pounds, but I'll be more toned. I hope 15lbs does it. I kinda like my shape, but my upper thighs are too big and nasty lookin' and my stomach is not where it needs to be. I'm so over my arms; if they stay flabby I'm cool with that. But not my thighs and belly. Anyway, I'm not trying to be thin with no curves. I want to keep my hips. I need them. I never had a booty and my breasts shrunk with the weight loss. I need my hips!!!!! lol

I'm gonna start keeping an exercise journal like I keep a food journal. Keep myself accountable.

On another note, I'm going to look into swimming lessons at the YMCA. I'm scared of water, but they have classes for adults with a fear of water. I want that workout. I'll keep y'all posted.

WW is going good. I haven't lost anymore but I'm ok with that. The healthy habits that I've gained this past summer are great. With WW and Sparkpeople.com I'll be straight soon. I have to find my rhythm.

I haven't posted on this thread in forever because I was sick of not making progress. Same old sob story, yada, yada, yada. But now I'm three weeks into a great work out plan. I wake up around 5:30A and go to my gym and work out for an hour four days a week. I haven't seen lbs off yet, but my plan is simple: consistency.

Ideal, your story is so encouraging. Keep up the great work girl! BabyBlue your story is phenomenal as well. I haven't seen you around these parts lately, but we miss ya.

Thanks for encouraging me ladies.

Thanks, ladies!

TT, healthy habits say much more than the numbers on the scale, IMO.

treblk, I finally got the book YOU on a Diet and I've been reading it. I LOVE it. I didn't have a chance to listen to all the discs when I had it on CD, so I'm enjoying the read and learning a lot!!

delph, you are about to be my inspiration. Because when it cools off or if it is a rainy fall, I'll have to start driving to work. And that means I'll have to get up early to exercise. I am like Soror lovelyivy - I don't do early mornings. But I also realize these kids DRAIN me and exercising after work is never going to happen. Though I am contemplating working out with the basketball teams afterschool sometimes. See if I can push myself to keep up with these kids. LMAO, the thought truly cracks me up.

Where IS BB91????

Guess what I got? Guess what I got??? QUADS!!!!! Yes, I, Flabby Thighed Monique herself, has quadriceps!!! I can SEE them!!!!!! I see them best if I lay down and raise my legs in the air when I'm doing ab exercises. I was like, wait, is that, AW SHOOT!!! When I'm standing, it's harder to see cuz there is still fat covering them. But they are under there!!!! I'm tellin' you, it really is the little things.
