Yes, I think you're right, it was another Stabler girl that came through, not Namath. I get all those Bama football legends mixed up in my head! lol

I don't know anything aboout Bama KDs in particular, but in my browsing, I've noticed that it's often the biggest, oldest, and most "highly ranked" chapters that still don't have websites when everybody else does. My guess is that they don't feel the same need for PR that smaller chapters do.

Well, that makes some sense, but Bama A Chi O's have one (although right now you can only see the home page, I'm sure that'll soon enough be fixed), and they're almost as big.

Also, right now AOPi's and Theta's at Bama don't either although they have within the last year or two.

That's the biggest problem I've found. Everybody loves having a website but nobody wants to take the time to keep it up to date.

I really have to disagree. With 200+ members in a chapter, I find it hard to believe that they can't find someone in the group to keep the website updated, especially when students are online all the time (judging from the popularity of MySpace/FaceBook).
Some chapters even hire outside sources to create/maintain their websites.

EN at Bama has never had a site either from what I can tell. Is it just not considered "old row cool" to have a site at Bama or something???

Tri-Delta has a website at the Univ. of Alabama. There are also websites at Ole Miss, Univ. of Oklahoma, Univ. of Florida, Mississippi State and Univ. of Georgia. These are all established chapters. As far as I know DDD does not have a chapter without a website.
Here is the website for Alabama: www.bamatridelta.com/univ_alabama.html All photos have been removed due to recruitment.

Your mention of Ole Miss was exactly why I was wondering about Alabama. I went to their greek website and all of the chapters have a website (although the Kappa's was unable to be reached now unlike before) including the Ole Miss KD's (of which Mississippi First Lady Marsha Barbour, Haley's wife, was a member). There is no public university in America where greeks are more respected, so I figured if all of them at least have recently had one, I wondered why Alabama KD's at easily more than 200 members did not. I even guessed it was something of a status thing to.

For what it's worth about KD pledge #'s
I saw that in 2004, Bama KD's were on bid day one under quota according to the quota listed for that year on the University Greek life office Recruitment Stats document and the University-released bid list for the same year. And according to the GL office sorority growth chart, for that fall, the KD's ended up with 43 pledges, ahead of only Gamma Phi Beta. But the next year they had 63 pledges according to that same chart! So I think they should be all right! They do, however, need to get a website going!!

Being Alabama's largest sorority and (arguably) most popular one, it doesn't make sense to me that they don't yet. Phi Mu's hasn't apparently been renewed and the Kappas' hasn't been updated since March of this year but apparently the KD's have never had one. Would you be able to find out why? Also, is it possible that they'll have one up anytime soon? Just wonderin!

I've been wondering the same thing myself! I figure it is because they are too busy (or too lazy ) or can't get a volunteer to head it up. As a graphic designer, I know how tough it is to get a website together. I will try to look into it - I would certainly like to see one up soon!

And Alpha Chi! I didn't see them on your the list either.
As far as my Old Row shirts say, the following are Old Row:
KD, Tri Delt, Alpha Gam (also known as "First Circle"), XO, AXO & Phi MU
Apparently Phi Mu and AXO are the newer old rowers.
Frats are:
KA, SAE, EN, Phi Gam, DKE & Phi Delt
