2007 UGA Recruitment

Congrats to all the girls whose wishes came true for them.

My daughter is in her dorm room sobbing all alone. She was hoping for a open bid, but time I guess time is running out for her. It is so hard for us moms, especially those who were in sororities at UGA, to see our children so hurt.

I'm sorry Hollywin.

I wish that rho chis were more forthcoming with PNMs thinking of dropping that very few get open bids.

The only real reason that a girl at UGA should ever drop is that she would rather not be Greek than join the groups she has left. The chances are far too slim that she will get picked back up by groups that have released her to make it worth taking the chance.

I'm not saying that it doesn't happen every once in a while, but it is so extremely rare as to not make good sense.

(I don't know how many girls who re-rush as sophomores improve their results; that's a totally different issue.)

We'll have to wait to see who might be COBing.

ETA: I was looking at last year's results here, and while I doubt everyone completely reported the number snap bids that their groups gave, of all the girls last year accounted for on GC, only 15 were reported as snaps out of the 1200+ girls who rushed in 2006.

I'm not trying to be bias but I have always thought that they have the most beautiful house on campus!

I will be certain to tell everyone I know to be sure and secure recs as I have learned from this chat that she may have been cut from 2nd round just because she didn't have any!

I want to thank all of you for having patience with me and helping me through this as clueless as I was. I feel so enlightened and educated now about the greek rush system and I am looking forward to hearing and living vicariously through my daughter the rest of her Greek experience at UGA!

I believe the AGD house is known as the "wedding cake house".

And, believe it or not, I attended a wedding there a few years ago!!
The bride is an alumna.

I am so happy for your daughter. Great, great sorority. I know she will be so happy. My neice was an Alpha Gam at Tech. Most wonderful experience of her life !!

Yay! Let her know that the Alpha Gams on GreekChat are THRILLED for her! And yes, we do call that the Wedding Cake House! It has a great history and our UGA chapter is awesome. MANY of our high level volunteers are from that chapter. It seems to produce real leaders and lifelong members.
