Definite crossing of the fingers for your daughter. Several girls from my area pledged various sororities there last year, and are now enjoying their first year of rush on the other side.

(And what's with GC these days? I had the same problem as UGADAD. On Carnation's daughter's recruitment thread, I'd typed three long posts and each time it was as if I wasn't logged on, and I lost them.)

Perhaps due to my tenancy to write long posts, I've discovered that if you hit the back arrow, often times the posts are still there, so you can copy and paste as needed rather than starting from scratch.

I was out shopping with my daughter last night and we heard from her best friend right after she got back from the first round of open houses...she had a wonderful time and said it was more fun than she ever imagined. The excitement level is high, for these first two days anyway. We're waiting to hear what she thought about the groups today......

I hope things so well for all the PNMs.

The party experience is always fun; it's the cuts that stink. But maybe this year more girls will have the perfect rush!

We have two sophomores from our HS giving it another try, so I am hoping things turn out well this time around.

Good luck UGADad and UGADaughter... I love it that we're getting a thread from a Dad! My daughter is rushing at Auburn this year as an out of state student and is really enjoying her experience. I think the best advice you could give your daughter is what you've already told her "keep an open mind and maximize your options!"

Keep us posted!

good good luck to ugadaughter, baby dawg, and cluelessdaughter!!

clueless mom, if your daughter has been invited back to any of the houses that you were offered recs. to and you still have that contact info., please get in touch with those ladies asap. it is extremely rare for a pnm to skate by with no recs. and receive a bid. contact the inhouse collegian at the other school-she should know if she can write a rec. for cluelessdaughter.

and a pox on uga panhellenic for misleading pnms and their families.

my dearest baby was invited back to 6 houses (two were at the bottom of her bottom five), but thankfully the other four were at the top of her list We were sad that she was cut from one house that she really enjoyed (and it was special...I went to prefs there, too!). Anyway, she was cut from that one (but we had no rec there....Knew no one. I should have done a better job) Today, we are scrambling to see if any last minute recs can go into two of those four where we also have no recs...
My recruitment experience at UGA was identical. After the first round, I was only invited back to 6 houses. I won't lie- it is a slight blow, especially sitting next to my cousin who got a full invite list. I'd gotten cut from a few of my 1st party favorites, but a few I was a legacy at plus 2 I was interested in (and 2 I was not) invited me back. Please, encourage your daughter to stick it out through prefs no matter what. After round 2, I was only invited back to 4 houses for house tours, only 2 I was interested in. And I preffed those 2 plus 1 more...I ended up changing my mind at pref from a week-long favorite to the one that felt the most at home to me and it was the best decision I made! So cuts can be hard, but stick it out all the way through, and if in the end none of those feel right, at least she knows she gave them all a chance.
