Ok, this might be a TMI, but if you're prone to blisters and/or chaffing, they make this AWESOME stuff for athletes called BodyGlide. It comes in a tiny little deodorant like stick. Roll it on your heels/feet (i tend to get blisters on my little toes) and its waterproof, sweatproof, and not messy. I swear on my life that it will save your feet (and anything else that chaffs/rubs). Its $4 or so at a running store or sports store.

When I read the beginning of this sentence about TMI and chaffing, I thought you were going to suggest that stuff that Monistat makes that you put on between your thighs to keep them from chaffing. That could be a good investment, too...but I wouldn't carry it with me all day!!

Whoa! How heavy is this bag getting???

Just bring your student ID, a few dollars in cash (should you need to run to a vending machine or have time to get a snack), keys, a mini-umbrella, bottle of water, a tampon, a comb, some blotting papers and lipgloss. Break in your shoes before the events -- they're going to be uncomfortable no matter what.

You don't want the pain of toting around a heavy bag all day. Plus, I would not recommend bringing an mp3 player. Yes, the recruitment counselors will be presiding over your things when you are at a party, but they're not going to lock them up and there may be people milling around in between parties.

The time between Party 1 and Party 2 is not that great-- you will exit one house, walk to another and have a few minutes of downtime before you are lined up to go into the next sorority party.

We recommend that you not participate in gossip about other chapters, but this downtime is a great time to socialize with the other PNM's-- some of whom could be future pledge sisters and many of whom could be new friends. Don't be antisocial--- get to know these ladies!

haha, the bag won't be too heavy. I'm going to leave stuff like the blister stuff and baby powder in my room. Just bringing the oil blotters, advil, brush, and makeup for touching up maybe an energy drink if I think i need it.

Recruitment starts in a few days. I'm flying out tomorrow and I've said my last goodbyes. It's so sad and I'm so scared to start college in a new state. I've been so emotional this past week.

Good luck with the move. Cry your eyes out the first night if you have to, but by the second night, you'll be having so much fun getting situated that all the scariness and anxiety will be mostly behind you..... until recruitment that is....

I kid, I kid. Have fun, be SAFE, and cherish the moments meeting all your new classmates. Soon enough, everyone will be siutated and the routine will begin -- but until then, revel in the exciting, sometimes unpredictable experience of Going To College.

Dear ClassicBeauty,

I'm so excited for your rush thread to begin, and I'm sure you'll do fine. Just remember to soak up all the amazing experiences college has to offer you (including the nerves, the dealing with living in another state, etc), because it'll be over before you realize it. I thought I had all the time in the world when I began college, and now suddenly, it's the start of my senior year. Time really does fly when you're having fun

Good luck with the move, and if you get too homesick, just remember there's a ton of other people in the same boat as you - I kept that thought in mind during orientation week and it gave me the courage to say hi to a few people, all of whom I still talk to when we cross paths on campus
