At least....that's what my doctor told me.

Typically, when a woman is not taking care of herself from nutrition to water intake, hormones will try to balance the flora in the vagina, but are unable to do it effectively causing an overgrowth of some microorganisms. Namely Candida spp. and some bacteria, such as Haemophilus spp., Bacillus spp. and a few others.
When the woman has other issues like an STI, it makes the problem worse. Namely, Chlamydia, HPV, HSV and HIV infections.
So please! If a physician gives you treatment for yeast infection, please take it and follow through with the regimen. Because it is thought in the field that massive infection of outgrowths is the gateway to worse vaginal infections and very bad diseases, such a Vaginitis, Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, and all lead to infertility...
Your physician recommended not douching because you do not want ruin the balance of your normal vaginal flora. I don't do it, so I do not know the latest research on that subject. But that information your physician has is at least 20 years old and I am unsure what the relevancy is regard it... What I mean is what does Massingill have to say about it?
