She's an independent (rushed last year but dropped out, thinking about rushing again). Can an independent be Panehellenic?

So, why should she be?

She is looking and asking!

Maybe she is messing up, and I am sure you will be more than willing to help!

Well, she's only offending a few of us. (and I'm not offended as much as amused.)

It's interesting, Ugablonde must not be Jewish, because she wrote off both traditionally Jewish groups on campus, and then she wrote off DG and AGD, both of which have tended to be smaller groups.

But what do you suppose she has against Chi Omega?

(Even being someone who will acknowledge that there are tiers, I find UGAblonde's list strange. Things must have changed a lot, which I think would actually be good. I was under the impression that reputation rankings were almost beyond the control of the groups, but apparently, not so. Maybe it's the HOPE pulling in all the metro Atlanta kids because she's got some of the traditionally strongest most southern chapters thrown in almost as afterthoughts.)

How many of those groups take sophomores, UGAblonde?

ETA: I keep snorting and laughing at the construction that "Theta is pretty good too." Theta at UGA has long been amazing. I'm not slighting anyone, but it's really funny as someone who went there in the 90s to read somebody throw Theta out as "pretty good" and leave Chi Omega off the list.

But what do you suppose she has against Tappa Kegga Beer?

You know, I didn't list which groups for a reason...

minDyG I'm going to assume you knew I was sarcastic and you were referring to UGAblonde... I hope!

Oh, I think it says so much more about her than it does about the groups.

ETA: anyone who wanted to could figure out who was missing, but if you really think I should, I'll delete.

Really, I think we're better off not listing and ranking generally here, but her list is funny, and if her list stands, it seems that commentary on it is fine.

Do whatever you like, I'm just trying to be courteous. I can't make her take her list down either way so whatever tickles your pickle.

All we are trying to say is that you phrased this incorrectly. What you should have done was say "the houses I liked the best are...". The only good sentence here was "I LOVE pi phi because a ton of my friends are in it".

Now, you could have gone the other direction, which is still politically incorrect: you could have justified why you think those are the best houses (which probably would have been "because I got along with them the best").

But, since you seem completely ignorant to this I will say it, there is no good way to determine when a chapter is "better" than one another. What the heck are you going to base that on? Number of members, how loud they sang at recruitment, how pretty they are, how many frat guys came to their philanthropy, what clothes they wear, how pretty their house is....?? What?? And what weighs in more than others? Does a good chapter GPA count more than how pretty the girls are? Does the amount of girls at the local bar each week count more than how good their sisterhood is?

Therefore, if you just HAVE to share your opinions on your university's chapters....you should just say "I like these ones for these reasons". But if you ever want to gain the respect of anyone on GC, you just shouldn't say it all.

UGABlonde, you kind of broke the protocols of GreekChat by posting a list in the first place. It's not something that is usually done on here; most threads that get close get locked.

So that alone kind of bugged people.

But I'm a big fan of second chances for people, and I didn't really think you meant any harm. (After all, you didn't even list the "bad" chapters.)

You need to realize though that some people really love their chapters, especially if they are currently undergraduate members, so they are going to take being left off a list of "good" chapters personally, and it's pretty natural that they would feel defensive. It seems pretty clear to me that some people were just enjoying a sassy back and forth that really didn't have that much to do with you as it did with jokes with each other, as is also typical for GC.

But with what you've posted in other threads about your recruitment experience, it does seem particularly rich to me that the chapters that you left off the good list had to be the majority of the chapters that invited you to second round. So there's a little element of "who does she think she is?" going on, that if you think about it, kind of makes sense, right?

Your entitled to your own opinions; everyone is. But there's a limit to how much validation you are going to get publicly from people here.
