Yeah, for someone who was so busy reading important documents at work all day, she really had a bit of free time to post... and I wonder how old she was. No offense intended to those of you who post in a font color other than black, but that usually signals someone who is younger (still in school). Which takes me back to the Sweet Valley High references.

The whole thing was just a riot.
(Who in RL when told that a work of fiction is remarkably similar to her life story, basically response with "well, I have no interest in reading that?" Most of us would be really interested, and it'd be a reason to seek out something we wouldn't normally be interested in. "My life story in young adult literature; you don't say? I'll look into that" seems a more realistic response, it seems to me. )
And whatever compelled the writer to start it probably would have compelled her to keep going; fighting, snipping, and pretending, but it has all the signs of a trainwreck, so the lock is understandable. I think moderators are obligated to pretend that the OP is real when things are degenerating. Most of us had basically called the OP a liar one way or another, and if she was real, that wouldn't be acceptable.
But still, I do want to know what a person (even a fictional character) who is demonstrated to think like that would do to the rest of the story.
About not identifying chapters in retro-threads, I think it builds suspense. Even if you know the final GLO, you can still wonder if your group is in the running. And it can free people up to say what they really thought while still being panhellenic in spirit if they never ID all the groups.

I want to know: Is there such a thing as an "All State Homecomming Queen"? That sounds like something I made up when I was playing "Pretend High School" when I was 10.

Yes, and even if the state doesn't formally have a pageant with a recognized winner which some states might, there's even a America's Homecoming Queen award: http://www.americashomecomingqueen.com/
But I'm sure that Recruitment's award was different and much more elite and better than that. It was just a bigger honor, I'm sure.

When I went through recruitment last year I was promised a bid by a really good friend of mine who claimed she had some pull with her bid committee. So, I went through recruitment not being open minded and expecting to be loved by the girls in her sorority. Every night a few of them would come up to me saying "Oh I'm so glad you're here, you're our girl!" Then the third night of recruitment, I "fell of the list" of my dream sorority. By that time I hadn't really given any other orgs a chance to get to know me or for me to find out what my other options were. I dropped out of recruitment and was devastated. Luckily, a lot of my friends joined DZ and through them, I got to know the president and a lot of other girls and I was given an open bid in November. I hate seeing girls who have their heart set on one sorority and don't give the other ones a chance. It really can just lead to getting your heart broken when a great group of girls could be right under your nose!

i think that recruitment's retro story is going to be a part of greek chat history. years from now we will still be talking about it or making references to it. someone will mention identical twins or beauty queens or cross dressing cowgirl pnms and we will all start laughing.

The twins graciously allowed her to become their servant and she is now their paralegal. Just for kicks, she cleans their house. She doesn't do it for the money, of course, but she is just hoping that if she can prove how truly indispensible she is, they'll give her a pair of their coveted letters.

You'd be surprised as to what some of us GC old-timers still laugh about 6 years later.

If there's ever one search to do on GC, that's it.
