I'm actually totally enjoying this show. I actually think they're approaching it as a satire of sorts...i've laughed my butt off several times now. The dialog is actually hilarious if you see it as a comedy...
"I played football for a year. In little league."
"So, why are you rushing?"
"To join a fraternity!"
"There were robots, Casey! Robots."
"How do you know her?"
"Like, in the Biblical sense..."
"Oh, from church!"
"Rusty, this is The Beaver..."
"Like from TV?"
"From TV?! Who sent you?! Are you a narc?!"
I dunno, i don't think people should see it as a dramatic depiction. I think it's meant to be over-the-top. Yet, it DOES have a lot of dialog that suggests that some of the writers are Greek...

The show was funny and I'm going to keep watching it. It's not an entirely flattering portrayal of Greek life, but nothing on TV is generally flattering. "Everybody Loves Raymond" sure doesn't make me want to go out and live next door to my mother-in-law, you know?
Even the stupidest people watching this show should be able to distinguish that this show is a comedy and is not completely accurate. However, my roommates and I did laugh at the things that WERE accurate... and the things that were so inaccurate and thus hilarious.

Not bad...pretty funny. I'd watch it again. It was the first episode and it looks like the kind of show that can get much better (or much worse depending on the direction they take, but I'm rooting for better)

I thought it was cute in terms of the story line and actually somewhat accurate in terms of the fraternities...I found the beginning with ZBZ to be just offensive. They took every negative stereotype about sororities and lumped them all together. While there are pros and cons to each house, nobody really talks like that. And plus, they way recruitment is set up now, you can't just offer a bid like that...you could bribe a PNM to make you their #1 I guess, but does that ever really happen? Other than the portrayal of sororities, I found the whole thing to be surprisingly realistic...if they change the way the girls talk and act in the house, it could be a hit.

I thought it was pretty funny. I'll watch it again!
I was watching it with some friends, and during the girls rush scenes they asked "so is that what it's going to be like for you?"
ha!
Is it bad that I kinda hope the greek life ignorant girls who watch this show come into recruitment and compare the show to real life? Maybe even take it as the truth and ask the girls about it...
It'll really weed out some of the competition. hahaaha.
Actually, I take that back. I really hope no one takes this seriously and realizes it's making fun of stereotypes, kind of like how Chappelle (sp?) skits are.

But some people will do just that...take things seriously. It really amazes me when people talk as if being able to separate fact and fiction is a common practice. It's sort of like the thought that there is really such a thing as "common sense." You'd be amazed at the amount of people who actually believe stereotypes unless they've had personal experiences to refer to. Unfortunately these people are likely to spread the rumors and stereotypes as if they are fact. So while I do think the show is funny, I believe that the show will further lend to greek stereotypes.

^^^ The people who take it seriously are going to be the same people who think CSI is a realistic police/forensic drama, that ER or Grey's Anatomy are realistic medical dramas, that Perry Mason or Boston Legal are realistic courtroom dramas . . . .
Those people already buy into the stereotypes -- they've picked them up from all over the place, and this show will just reinforce what they want to believe anyway.

Some of the inaccuracies were ridiculous (like the fraternities having a quota and one person being able to give bids). I certainly didn't expect the "I'm not gay, I was just drunk" twist. Oh, and some of the acting - yeesh, I haven't seen emoting this wooden since Facts of Life season 1.
It was funny - the way the SNL Tri-Delt skits were funny. However, I wouldn't want younger kids to watch it and think that's really what Greek life is like.
Is it just me or is Cappy really Kutcheresque?

Ah! That's who he reminded me of!!! The name of the actor was on the tip of my tongue during the entire program, just couldn't think of it.
Cappy was some great comic relief.

She'll make her pillows and stuff because she'll wind up as her big. Zeta Beta Zeta: the best representation of a sorority ever....almost as good as Kappas and Omegas are for us guys.

Of course I'm being invited to multiple Facebook groups encouraging Greeks to boycott this show. I COULD tell them how I think it's funny and how they should get a sense of humor, but I think I'll just keep my mouth shut and keep watching.

I caught the show tonight on regular ABC. It looks like they'll be playing it on Mondays on ABC family and the following Fridays on ABC. So for anyone without cable, you can watch too, just a bit later.
