Spring 2007 Rush

I forgot to say the four sororites at my school
Delta Phi Epsilon
Phi Sigma Sigma
Gamma Phi Beta
Alpha Phi

My experience was different in that it wasnt really a Rho Chi, but just some people who sat with us at the table and didnt really do or say anything but bring us to the room in the order that we were supposed to go. I had Honda, Jeep, Mercedes, and Lexus

Honda: This room had a lot of different girls and they seemed really proud of the sorority. It wasnt the largest sorority, but it had a good base and the girls who rushed me were nice. I liked them ,but didnt feel an instant connection.

Jeep:I felt really welcomed by this group, they seemed to really like talking to me, and I had a lot in common with them. ONe girl was involved in many of the activities i was either interested in or participating in. I even found out that weirdly enough that the previous two years, girls who lived in my dorm room had ended up in Jeep. I left feeling good, and that I could fit in with these girls, but also happy i was finally getting to Mercedes.

Mercedes: i remember feeling so welcome as soon as i got there. All of the girls that I had known came over and gave me hugs, and introduced me to those i didnt know. Even the president came over and talked to me and brought me over to look at all the paddles and other things to represent the sorority. I felt so at home here, but i worried about my former friends, i didnt know if i could deal with pledging with them or always having them around.

Lexus: this group made me feel ignored. no one even tried to talk to me for at least 10 minutes and i just didnt feel like i fit in. everyone was so beautiful and tall, and i just felt like it wasnt the right place for me. i couldnt wait to leave the room.

at the end of the day, the group leaders explained that since we had done formal day we technically didnt have to go to anything else until bid signing thursday night. however, they recommended going to the parties that would be held throughout the week.

After the day, Sara and I talked about our orders:

Jeep
Honda

There hasn't been a rush thread for a school I am familiar with in about six years. This is great to read! Oh, and you should have seen the snow storm the year before you rushed. There was at least a foot, but they still had that round.

Technically after that day i didnt have to go to anything else, but I knew that I wanted to. Amanda, a friend of Sara's, had work on formal day so she had to go to 4 parties within the next week. However, they had all 4 the next day, Sunday, so she asked me and Sara to go with her. I went to all of the rooms again, and still felt most comfortable with Jeep and Mercedes, hated Lexus, and just got a weird vibe from Honda. After this day was over, I knew that I would go to parties during the week for Mercedes, Jeep, and maybe Honda. Both Sara and Amanda only liked Mercedes and Honda, saying that Jeep was too clingy for them.

Haha, isn't that weird? I remember someone have carved "KD" into the ceiling above my first freshman dormroom (switched rooms later because my roommate was crazy).

Over the next few days I went to 3 parties, 1 each for Mercedes, Jeep, and Honda.

Wednesday-Mercedes
Again I really liked everyone I met and felt really at home here. They all seemed interested in me and I had a really deep connection. The only thing stopping me from this was worrying about the effects of my former friends.
Thursday(we signed our bid cards after this night)
Jeep: I went alone to this because my roomate and her friend both decided they hated it. I saw a lot of people who I had connected with the last two times, and they had a really sweet ceremony that almost made me cry. However, i had started to hear rumors that this sorority wasnt really liked by the others, adn they had a reputation for giving away their letters..so i wasnt sure.
Honda: I only went to this because of my friends adn the fact that it was right before the time to sign bids anyway. It was nice but I really had no firm connection here.

We went to the room for signing our bid cards and sat down. I knew that I would not even put Lexus on my card, since I wouldnt accept a bid from them, and they wouldnt have given me one. I really wanted to join a sorority and decided to put down all of the rest, including Honda.

Now we had to wait until Friday night between 7-9 to recieve our bids in our dorms. I knew that I would be happy with either Jeep or Mercedes, but if I didnt get Mercedes I would wonder why since I had already established a connection with them.

how do you know the school? way over my head! but i never know which school is which!
