As far as the chapter was concerned, I simply hadn’t made grades again. My big sis knew that I was going through a rough time although she didn’t know the specifics. I don’t think I even missed any pledge meetings since what happened was just before finals. The chapter was supportive of me, as you'll see....
One the second night of the first round of Rush I was walking with my group from one party to the next when I heard, “Pssst! Pssst! Leslie!” I looked over and saw my big sis, “Angela”

peeking around the back door of
Water Skiing. I quickly looked around to make sure no one saw me and ran over to her. There were four or five other sisters at the back door. I told them I was coming in there next. I got hugs from all of them. One older sister, Sue, told me not to worry; I was the perfect little Water Skier. It meant the world to me that they did this.
Early the next morning I got a call from “Angela.” She told me that their chapter advisor wanted me to wait a year and bring my grades up before I re-pledged. I was shocked and very sad but immediately agreed. I would do whatever it took. I withdrew from Rush.
My friends in the dorm felt horrible for me. I tried to put on a happy face. I didn’t want to be a downer during an exciting time for them.
As Rush neared its end,

“Jeannine” came to me to talk about something. She really loved
Water Skiing but she said she wouldn’t pledge them if it was going to hurt me. She was such a sweetheart. I told her that I wanted her to be happy and if
Water Skiing was where she wanted to be she should go ahead and try to get a bid there.
She ended up preffing
Tennis and
Water Skiing. When she got back from signing her card she told me that she had put
Tennis first even though she preferred
Water Skiing. She said, “I just couldn’t do that to you.”
My predictions for where my friends would pledge were all off.
Both “Jeannine” and

“Maureen” pledged
Tennis.

“Gail” pledged
Ice Skating.
Both

“Jill” and

“Viola” pledged
Sunbathing.
