Thinks to myself: *God, I don't ask for much, but please let the women on my campus start looking like the angels in this video next semester!*
Also, good choices on the music... "Can't get no satisfaction" and "Black Betty" got my vote for best songs chosen.
F antastic choreography!

We had a similar event as part of Greek Week called "MTV Bar Night." Back then (mid 90s), the routines probably didn't get quite as suggestive as what some of these on the video were, but that's just part of the changing times...nothing in that video was any different than what most large college dance teams do at athletic events.

I loved AXO, DG and Alpha Phi (but I'm probably biased.)

My niece dances competitvely. She's only 7, so of course the routines are pretty tame. However, when I travel to see some of her competitions and look at what some of the junior high and high school girls are wearing/doing...
It makes my husband very uncomfortable to go to my niece's recitals and competitions, b/c he feels awkward watching those girls doing those moves knowing they're all of 15 years old.
My niece will be performing at Nationals next month, so we'll be seeing a variety of young women from all across the country. Won't surprise me in the least to see some very suggestive performances from young girls all across the country.
If that's the kind of stuff that wins awards in competitions while you're still a tween or teen, suppose its no big shock that the college girls would do the same thing. (Not saying that I agree w/it...just seems to be the way it is in the dance world these days.)

Those were my favorites as well. I wonder who got second and third?

Do you know who judges them? I'm glad I don't have to because I'd just be kind of awed by the whole thing.

I liked Sigma Kappa's they had a lot more creative dance moves and the theme was more interesting. The music didn't always match the story which was a flaw and it wasn't always capturing my attention.
Chi Omega had a lot more dancers for more impact, but their dancing didn't come off as complicated as SK's most of the time and they were not always together with made it drag a lot. But their storyline was tight and vibrant and they kept things moving. Also the songs went a lot better the majority of the time. They also did a lot more creative things during the routine. However, I'd have definitely have given the crown to Sigma Kappa if I was a judge, their dancing was overall much better and the physical energy was high throughout.

It's no wonder to me that DG won! Even though I am always going to be a little partial, they really did look the best to me. I liked the end of the DZ routine too though!

Oh this takes me back (only a few years ago) to "lip sync" at my college. We had everyone who wanted to be in the dances practice hard core, at least a month in advance. It's amazing what you can do with a little time but a lot of dedication. We used to tell the new members, "we don't haze, we do lip sync!" It was a great time, bonding and laughing about muscle aches and bruises, and some of our sisters' lack of hips!
