Not at all. I did the right thing.
He rushed after being commanded to do so by his Alpha Xi Delta girlfriend. He never really became a part of his pledge class. He was a little older -- and he was a high level worker on Democratic campaigns at the time. i guess he figured he was better than us. His social skills were also lacking.
How he got booted was one of my better moments actually I could tell you about that, but I'd have to kill you.

My first big sister actually left the sorority, and I've never been quite sure why--so don't feel bad about not having a good relationship with yours. However, my adopted big (who also happened to be in the same "family") is wonderful. She has always been fun and driven, which I admire. I was very lucky that she and her big sister took it upon themselves to keep me in their little group. My little and I have a unique relationship. She was one of my bridesmaids at my wedding, she became president of the chapter, and she is just overall a wonderful person, also someone I admire. I try to keep in touch as much as I can. My grandlils are both awesome and completely different, which is great. Now, my great grandlils are now sophomores in college (I've been graduated for two years), but I still keep in contact with them, due to the wonders of facebook and myspace. I hope to keep in contact, at least, with the "family line."

My big and I didn't get along until I was active for about 7-8 months. I knew I was getting her (there were two girls up for littles, and everyone know my pledge sister would get who she got as her big) and was dreading it, plus she wanted to wait to take a girl that wanted to pledge but couldn't afford it so she was waiting till the next fall.
Well, she took her the following fall and was a much better big to this girl (let's call her A). A wound up dropping her letters after a week because she just got engaged and "didn't have a need for a sorority anymore" (this is what A told me). After that we wound up becoming a lot closer and getting along better.
As for my little, we were close until I transfered and then she stopped returning my calls and stuff.
My adopted bigs (both of them are in my family, one my great grand big and one my great great grand big) I'm still pretty close with one, and speak to the other, just not as often as I'd like.

my "big" (using the NPC/NIC/IFC terms here) and i talk every day, almost anyway. we get along fine. we're a lot alike as far as career goals and maturity levels - she's a good 7, 8 years older than me and i'm kinda old for my age so it balances out.
now my "little," well, we arent that close at all. she's always in school or at work and she lives quite far from me. and on the off chance that we are together, we have nothing to talk about aside from school and work. its not a bad relationship per se, but not the ideal.

My Big and I are super close. She was my first choice and, she told me just before I got my own Little that she wasn't going to accept a call for anyone else but me from my NM class. She was one of the first sisters I grew really close to, and she was already acting in the role of "Big" for a long time before it was official. She just graduated this past spring, and I'm already having a hard time picturing life without her next year.
Both my Littles and I are really close too, but I have different relationships with both of them, because we grew close differently. My first Little, we grew close as she went through Recruitment and then even closer after she pledged and, since I got her three or four months before my second Little, we seem to be more comfortable to talk about virtually anything. My second Little and I grew close during the fall and marching band season (we were in the same section), and I tried really hard to get her to go through Recruitment during fall formal. Even though I knew her pretty well a month or so before I got close to my first Little, and we CAN talk about a lot of stuff, sometimes the conversation is a little more forced. But I love hanging out with both of my Littles and they both get along fairly well.
On the bright side, the branch of my family is really close. My grandbig has always been almost a second Big to me, my Big's second Little and I are insanely attatched at the hip (we tend to end up plotting together, and sometimes our Big has trouble keeping up with the two of us). There are a lot of Bigs/Littles, branches, and families in my chapter that aren't as close, so I count myself incredibly lucky.

My sis-mom left the semester after I was initiated. Fortunately she is still able to be around sometimes, so I get to see her. She was one of the reasons I decided to stick with Recruitment. My first sis-daughter was a spring class girl. She is actually in my class and is only a few months younger than me. I had several classes with her because we are both in the honors program and I was pretty sure she would not want to be in a sorority at all, but she was still invited to the COB parties and ended up taking the bid we offered. She is our New Member Coordinator now and is doing a fab job. We are not alike at all and I guess I would not say we are super close or anything but we always just get along so well. And she is very nice to her mommy. My other one came in this fall. I actually barely remembered her from the parties but there were not many members that could take a sis-daughter at that time and I could, and her top two choices were sisters that I shared some personality traits with, so she was assigned to me. I guess we are not terribly close either, but we are a lot alike in some ways and get along really well. She is very close with her pledge class which is so great. When I first met her when she was pledged she walked in with her heels on and everyone laughed. I am 5 feet 4 inches and was wearing flats. She is about 5 feet 10 inches and was wearing heels. I am sure we looked really funny. My first sister-daughter is also taller than me, and so is my mom. My first daughter took a daughter in the fall pledge class, so I am already a grandma and SHE is taller than me too. My whole family dwarfs me.

I'm not extremely close my my big. She is really sweet though. We had a GREAT Big/Lil Reveal, always say hi to each on campus, and go out to eat from time to time. We just have different personalities. I am closer to my Grand Big (both in the same major) who is more active in our chapter. I'm closest to my "adopted big" who was out going president-- so sad she graduated! I can't wait till I get my little this year!

I have always been very close to my big. We don't talk as much now because she just got married and has a busy career, but we talk enough and whenever I need help with something, she's one of the first people I call. She has 3 other littles and we're all best friends too, so it works out, we have a great family in the sorority. And I really consider my big part of my biological family. My parents ask about her all the time as if she was their daughter too.
I have 4 littles myself and I would say I have good relationships with 3 of them. My last little, I barely talk to now. We got along great while she was pledging, but after that she just stopped calling and I just stopped trying. My other 3 littles--one is married, another is one of my really good friends, and the other is the best little sister you could ever ask for. We talk all the time and she comes to me for so much. I really do feel like she's my younger sister and I'm there helping her along the way. The thing with my littles is they are all from expansion schools. I saw them whenever I could (3 of them were from schools no more than 2 hours away and one was from GA--I live in NY). I've never really wanted one in my own chapter because I like traveling and meeting sisters from different schools and I'm lucky enough to have the relationships that I do. It's a lot of work keeping up with everyone, but it has a lot of reward.

We were matched with our big sisters in much the same way as bid match was done during rush, er, recruitment. I ended up with a great big, and moved into her house with her. She left for the summer, and the remaining boarders were psycho, so I had to move out, and then she transferred schools, but we stay in touch to this day. She was in my wedding, I was in hers, and we had a GREAT time at our chapter reunion in San Antonio this May. She is going through a messy divorce, and we think a p.i. was following us - oooooo, exciting! She's a hoot, and I always love getting together with her.
My one and only little (I married in college and went alum) never was really committed, and has fallen off the face of the earth.

My Big bro and I are really close. He's like the big brother I never had in real life. We were friends before joining Sigma Nu, and he rushed a semester before me to "test the waters".
Not too long ago, he was thrown out of his house, with all his belongings out there in the rain... I organized a crew of friends and brothers to help him get to shelter and find a place to crash until he could find his own place.
He has since bought a house, and I found myself looking for a place to stay for cheap, since I've been paying my own way through school, and the bills are catching up to me. He pretty much let me stay at his house for 1/2 of what he had advertised the room for, and I only paid 1/4 of the utilities.
I'd trust my Big bro with my life... even if I do want to kick his ass occasionally! We're there for eachother.
