Some NPHC orgs allow second-semester freshmen to join... I know personally Alphas and AKAs who did.
Also, it depends on the school. Many HBCUs do not allow freshman to join NPHC orgs.

Ahh, got it. Personally, I like the rule of not allowing freshmen, gives them more time to do their research.

Yes, for Delta it is by semester or quarter credits. The number of credits we require usually aren't earned until you finish freshman year, but there have been those instances (especially in a quarter system) were they were earned during freshman year.

And I know many Deltas who did in a semester system. The official guideline is based on GPA and college credit hours. If you qualify and are a freshman, more power to you. But we all know that it takes more than qualifying based on GPA and credit hours.

just cuz you're in an org's youth axillary group doesnt mean you have to become a member of that org later on. alot of times, some of the youth members dont even become greek or members of that particular org. and your name gives away what youth group you were a member of.
and my fellow NPHC'ers correct me if i'm wrong, but doesnt your youth membership end upon graduation from hs?

Yes, our youth group, the Rhoer Club ( www.rhoers.org) is for high school girls ages 13-18. And although a fair amount do become Sigmas later, they are not obligated to and they know that from the very beginning.
