An honest, well-taught new member! Congratulations!
Bottom line: Your friends will be happy that you found your sorority home, at the college of your choice. Your non-friends will not be so happy. There's a song from the WWII era, Accentuate the Positive, Eliminate the Negative, Don't Mess with Mr. In-Between. It sounds as if you've already figured that out - congratulations and hope you get the bid you want!
PS: A recruitment thread would thrill a LOT of us!

Well said all.
You were honest and up front and you are now free and clear in every sense to rush at A&M.
Good luck to you.

the a & m sororities will not know that you pledged a sorority at your former school if you do not tell them. even if it comes up in conversation, saying something to the effect of "well, a & m was my first choice, but i was waitlisted. i enrolled at rural u. and tried to make the best of things. i did participate in recruitment, pledged a sorority there, and at the same time re-applied to a & m-this time i was accepted. i realized that a & m did not have a chapter of the sorority i pledged, so i resigned my membership before i was initiated. they were a great group of girls and i hope to find the same kind of sisterhood here at a & m."
a & m has recruitment in the fall, and i would imagine that most of the sororities make quota and are not able to recruit members until the next year, so if you want a chance to join, you should enroll in recruitment this summer. be sure to line up recommendations for as many of the sororities as you can. enjoy your time at your #1 school!

Congrats to you on A&M and kudos to you on having the maturity to do your homework and realize that initation=forever. I think you made a smart choice not to be initiated and it will not hurt you to have been a sorority new member. You may be required to disclose that you were a pledge of a sorority on your recruitment app (if it was an NPC chapter), but otherwise, it really doesn't matter. You were never initiated.
Good luck at A&M and at recruitment!

Applause for doing the RIGHT thing and not getting initiated when you knew you weren't staying.
Good luck in finding a sisterhood at A & M. I hope you get your first choice there as well.

Like everyone above already said, You made the right decision by not initiating if you knew you would be transfering schools, etc.
I pledged an NPC and then depledged, and then I went to my local, the NPC group wanted me to come back, but I knew it wasn't for me. Because I hadn't initiated, I was free to go where I wanted (after the one year period).
Good luck to you!!!!

Way to Go!
I applaud you for thinking ahead and being honest with the organization you were pledging.
There should be no bad blood between you and any other national organization and as others have said, there is no reason to mention your past involvement. You were not initiated and therefore are not a sister. Joining another panhellenic organization is not a betrayal of any kind.
MAJOR KUDOS TO YOU!!! You were honest and upfront. I am so glad new members are beginning to understand the commitment involved in sisterhood!
I'm sure you'll find sisterhood where ever you go!
If you go through formal recruitment, keep us here at GC posted. We're all behind you!!!
AND, CONGRATS ON ACCEPTANCE TO YOUR TOP CHOICE SCHOOL!!!

Why do You think You are a Traitor?
You were only a Pledge of a GLO and You had to move on!
So, there was no GLO that you Pledged and that is a Problem now?
What You must realize, that there and so many Fine GLOs with such great members that you can look at and belong to!
Just look at some of the Great GCers here! Others, just ignore!
