Nope but I pledged in 1987. Now I probably would have guessed us with color though.

Maybe she just wrote it in her notes as straw...I'm assuming it really was wheat?
I think we also have a pretty good idea of who Warrior was, considering that one of the chapters that was there when she rushed is no longer on campus.

I'm pretty darned confident that it was wheat, and if it wasn't, it certainly should have been!

It was actually Wheat, but for some reason I had written down Straw. My best friend is an AOTT and she always reminds me its wheat because she had a little of it in her bouquet for her wedding.

I'll finish up my story here so other people can get to telling theirs.
Finally bid day arrives and if you didn't get a bid, the Rho Chi's would come and knock on your door to tell you. Of course, with a whole hall of girls we would knock on other pnm's doors just to freak them out. While running around I saw Heather my Rho Chi on my hall and started to panic and almost cry immediately. She came up and gave me a big hug and then told me she wasn't there to see me, she was there to see someone else with another Rho Chi and just wanted to say hi. I was a Rho Chi my senior year and it really really sucks to tell someone that they didn't get a bid face-to-face so we sometimes took another Rho Chi for moral support for ourselves.
Happy that Heather wasn't there to see me, a bunch of us attempted to eat some lunch, which none of us were hungry for and got ready for bid day!! Jon called me while I was getting ready and started giving me a hard time. I just told him I had to go. I am really starting not to like being with him anymore.
Finally we were ready to go, a bunch of us - Courtney included, walked up to Moseley and sat in our Rho Chi groups and I was so nervous!!! There was a big speech and then the Rho Chis revealed themselves and Heather was a Lotus!!! Then they handed out the bids and made us SIT ON THEM during another speech made by the head Rho Chi and then 1-2-3 we got to open our bids!!!! And I am now a proud new member to......ALPHA XI DELTA (Lotus-- shocker I know). I ran up and gave Heather a huge hug. The girl from my Elon 101 class was also a Lotus and we were so freaking happy!!!
As for my friends:
Traci went Half Moon
Karen went Om
Colleen went Shanti
Torey went Down Dog
and Courtney went Half Moon
Sarah ended up dropping out of Elon the end of first semester of her sophmore year. She never joined a sorority, but she was still with her boyfriend. Later I heard she had become a hair stylist.
Traci and I were really good friends and roomates until our junior year when Traci became really depressed after a bad break up and bad grades. She ended up transferring to Queens College in Charlotte.
Colleen ended up marrying Shanti's sweetheart after they graduated.
Torey was roomates with one of the girls in my new member classes and I saw her a lot. Even after Freshman year, we were always friendly with each other.
Courtney became obsessed with Half Moon and became the pincale of sisterhood. You would have never known that prior to recruitment that she thought were just "regular" girls. I didn't see much of Courtney after the end of Freshman year. Of course Traci did, but never really hung out with her.
As for me, Anne who preffed me became my Rose Sister and Ashley who couldn't sing at pref became my Big. My jiunior year I became the Recruitment Chair for AZD and my senior year I was a co-head Rho Chi.
So thats my story. If you want to know exactly which sorority was which, pm me as I am afraid if I list them here I will get blasted.

I love your remarks about the girl singing off key and the other sisters trying their best to hold in their laughter. That was totally my chapter. We could sing loud, and sound excited, but we were never the beautiful voices that some chapters had

I knew it was wheat, too. She just didn't say wheat! I suppose in her notes she thought it was straw?
I never even knew what a "sheath of wheat" was until I pledged!

OK, now a post to the end! Glad to hear we were in it to the end. I don't read too many stores about AOII pledges, not sure why. We're so shy.
Loved your story! Especially all the bits about your rush buddies. Thanks for sharing!

The part about the sister singing off key hit me close to home too. During preference, the girl who was preffing me whispered in my ear that she was going to mouth the words because she didn't want to hurt my ears with her terrible voice! Then the next year when I was an active, the song chair nicely asked me if I wouldn't mind doing the same thing as I was ruining the harmony in one of our slow songs. But you better believe I was one of the loudest voices out there when we were doing our cheers!
