How would such a GPA kill you class status? I'm missing something here.

Most of the top 30 or so in my class had GPAs ABOVE 4.0 on a 4.0 scale. A 3.5 would MAYBE get you in the top 50%.

In my HS the top students had either close to a 4.0 or higher. AP classes counted extra towards your GPA. A 3.5 would have been good but not "top" anything.

Yes! Yes! YES! As well as the Annex (R.I.P.), Alumni Hall...oh the memories! Sursum Ad Summum!
Hey now Soror Nia X...that gold dome represents excellence and prestige. LOL. Depending upon the year you saw it, it may or may not have had class numbers painted on it...or perhaps cafeteria tables. How clever those seniors and their pranks.

I was 9 out of 81, daggon Pre-Calc and honors geometry.
Was in National Honors Society, Who's Who of American HS students, Beta club, student council and all that jazz.
College I was in Golden Key and the departmental honor societies but didn't graduate with honors. Ironic, isn't it.

Unfortunately, our salutatorian didn't have the outcome that folks assumed she would. She found another path that is equally satisfying for her. That goes to show that high school accolades are often a sign of something other than future ACADEMIC success.

Ain't that the truth... quite a few of our 'Mostly Likely To Succeed' students, well some of them are coming up "short" in the real world!
I was in the Top 10% and NJHS. We were given special medals to wear with our Honor cords at graduation.

I was 5 out of 200+ students (gotta think back to 1998)...I had a 3.7 and the top ten sat on stage for graduation. It's amazing how we think we have everything figured out at 17 or 18. I looked at my senior scrapbook the other day and wondered what was I thinking? LOL!!

Well alrighty, then, we have to dialogue......
...but right now, I need you to get ready because I'm going to swing by, pick you up, and we are going to pay a little visit to Ms. NiaX.
I will hold her while you beat her dow er.....impress upon her the high academic rigor required of our dear alma mater (with her ole hate' talking self.)
We can both curse her out in Latin (cause we can do it like that).
