Wow, I don't know about where you live, but my family's vet makes a bundle. Probably as much as a family medicine doc. Maybe it varies by region...my boyfriend says vet costs are way higher here than they are in Florida, for instance.

I got that info from UVM which has one of the most respected animal science/pre-vet programs in the country. They have a joint-admission program with Tufts University. BIG reason why I didn't look into vet school.

Yeah, my vet in Cali charges an arm and a leg. Well....charged. Back when I had a dog. Small hijack: I wanted to be a vet when I was younger, but then I saw the episode of "The Saddle Club" where Cobalt gets put down and Carole freaks on Dr. Judy for killing her favorite horse.

end hijack

Vet salaries

From the U.S. Department of Labor:

Quote:
Median annual earnings of veterinarians were $66,590 in May 2004. The middle 50 percent earned between $51,420 and $88,060. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $39,020, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $118,430.

According to a survey by the American Veterinary Medical Association, average starting salaries of veterinary medical college graduates in 2004 varied by type of practice as follows:
Small animals, predominantly $50,878
Small animals, exclusively 50,703
Large animals, exclusively 50,403
Private clinical practice 49,635
Large animals, predominantly 48,529
Mixed animals47,704
Equine (horses)38,628
Admittedly, the median is less than I thought it would be. But I'm not surprised to see that large animal vets seem to make less, considering they're often in agricultural areas.

They messed up the books so much! I was uber annoyed when I saw the tv show! Did you read a lot of the books? Bonnie Bryant wrote a new series called Pine Hollow which has all the characters plus some new ones as they've grown up and gone into high school. Set in Lisa's senior year, Carole and Stevie's junior year.

I don't like to shop at WalMart but that's just my personal preference, I just like Target better. I think it has something with being able to walk into their store and knowing where I need to go to find stuff within about 30 seconds.

When I do go grocery shopping either at SuperTarget or Hy-Vee the thing that annoys me is people who park in front of the store while waiting for someone. I'm just waiting for the day when I witness an accident because someone is parked there and another car is trying to go around them and hits a person.

Oh and CheerfulGreek, good luck in vet med school I think you're going to need it.

I know a vet that charges $5,000 to do a facelift on aging dogs.

Sadly enough, he is doing quite well.

On subject title, but my response is kind of off topic now...

But, this happened at a grocery store near me. The cashier ASKED ME FOR A TIP. HUH?!?!?! I tried to laugh it off, but then she said "No, I am being serious". UM WHAT?!

Has this ever happened to you??

^^^ I've never been asked for a tip! That's weird.

No, I never read the books (I was into Pony Pals), but I always wondered what happened to them after the season ended. Maybe I'll go to the library and see what I can find. It's always so sad when something ends, I like knowing what happened after. That's why I liked that Sweet Valley Twins continued into college (I never read them, but it makes me feel better that I can go look if I want to).

Once again, stop posting lies about me.
Why don't you just stop posting about your men period, it's obvious that you can't get a decent guy based on what you've been getting.

Hey, look at the bright side, you and that guy have something in common. You both wear panties.

Okay, as stupid and immature as BOTH of you have been acting, I admit that was funny as hell. I'll give you that much.

But for real, this has gone on long enough, can't you guys shake and make up? Or at least ignore each other for awhile?

I tried to make up with her. Twice, and she knows it! She didn't want to. Hey, I tried. I've never done anything to her, she started it all.

Except call her every name in the book, giving her more to say about you. You can't reason with people all the time and fighting back doesn't do anything except make everything she says about you look true. As entertaining as this is, I still say we sing Kumbaya, make a few S'mores and call it a day.
