Oh, yeah, I forgot about this thread because it took them so long to make any sort of decision.

In the end, they decided against hiring a congregation member, because they don't want to loose members, should it not work out. So they hired outside the congregation. Guess what? First new member class avalible after her hire date, the new music director joined our church as a member. So much for not having members as employees, right? (Although, in her defense, it's hard NOT to want to join our church after you experience it).

Bottom line: Staffing your church should NOT be an evangalism opportunity.
