I was talking one of the entertainment editors at CNN about this. He says that it is rumored that this will be the last season of
Friends because the cast has made some sort of pact that if one leaves, they all will (and a couple of the cast members would like to leave).
He says he's heard that NBC is trying to beg, borrow and steal enough to pay the cast to stay for another couple of seasons, because it is still one of NBC's top shows--and definitely its number one sitcom.
Since Sept. 11, he says, people have been going for "comfort TV" (like comfort food), and
Friends' ratings have gone through the roof since then (and since Rachel's pregnancy). From what he says, NBC really wants to keep
Friends going. I, for one, hope they do!
