What’s going on between Oprah Winfrey and R Kelly? Oprah recently played host to the star studded premiere of The Color Purple in Chicago, and her special guest was R Kelly! A lot of Oprah’s close friends were stunned when they saw Kelly. He is facing child pornography charges stemming from a videotape he allegedly made with a 14-year old girl. Why would Oprah embrace Kelly? She herself was sexually abused when she was a teenager. A lot of people felt it wasn’t a good look. Kelly has been out and about gearing up for the release of a new CD next month.

Kelly’s other half, his wife Andrea, opens up in the June issue of Essence magazine. Mrs. Kelly says she hasn’t seen the infamous tape involving her husband. She says she will love him till the day she dies. Andrea Kelly says the couple grew apart after 11 years. They have three children: 2 girls, 7 and 9, and a five-year old son. Andrea Kelly was a dancer with R Kelly when they hooked up. This was while he was married to Singer Aaliyah. Aaliyah was 15-years old, and Andrea was 20. Andrea Kelly says she wants to continue with her dancing career, and she hopes to work with Tyler Perry one day. The June issue of Essence features Mary J. Blige on the cover.

Is Bobby Brown ready to tell all? Brown, 38, is single and broke. His current girlfriend is also acting as his manager, and she is preparing him to tell all. Brown has nothing to lose. What was life really like with Whitney Houston? We may think we saw it all on their Bravo TV show Being Bobby Brown, but Whitney had a dark side. What about the gay affairs? Did crack cocaine turn Whitney into a sex crazed monster? Who is Uncle Rob, the notorious drug dealer? Bobby knows everything, and sources say he is holding out for the best deal.

Happy Mothers’ Day Mom…. You’re fired! Usher has decided to part ways with his mom, Jonetta Patton. Patton has managed her son for years, but now there is a new sheriff in town and Usher had to fire his mom. The new sheriff is Usher’s older lady love Tameka Foster. Foster, 42, used to be Usher’s stylist, but Jonetta fired her when she realized Tameka wasn’t doing her job. Foster already had Usher under her spell. Jonetta was furious. She told Usher: dump this woman; she is no good for you. Usher wouldn’t listen. He is now engaged to Foster. She left her husband and three kids to be with Usher. The wedding is planned for November, and she convinced Usher to give her an early wedding present…..Fire Your Mother. Call it: The Revenge of Tameka. She was tired of his mom’s meddling. Tameka turned her back on her own family, and now it’s her time to cash in. Will Usher make her sign a pre-nup? What kind of hold does she have over him? Usher says even though he fired his mom, their relationship is still great. He says he just wants his mom to be his mom. It was time to separate business from personal. Jonetta just turned 50, and she is dating a 36-year old former boxer. Friends say she is holding up by concentrating on remarrying and starting her own clothing line.

The hoochies are whispering about basketball great Michael Jordan? Since his divorce from his wife became final, he has been buckwild and out of control. He may be tall, dark and handsome, but sources say he is known as the old player with the crusty lips. CRUSTY LIPS! Say it isn’t so! Give that man some Chapstick! Jordan is not old by any means, but his reckless behavior has a lot of people scratching their heads.

Eddie Levert is breaking his silence about his son’s death. November 10th, 2006 was a sad day in the music world when Gerald Levert passed away at the age of 40. Eddie Levert says life has been hard after Gerald’s passing, but he realizes life goes on. He says he misses his son, and he wants to dedicate his life to teaching others about the dangers of mixing prescription drugs and overeating. Eddie wants to help people lead healthier lives. He says Gerald was always working and he didn’t take time to enjoy life. He loved to eat, and he struggled with his weight. He also suffered from various health problems which led to him taking prescription drugs and over the counter medicine. Eddie will be hitting the road to promote a new book he and Gerald were working on, and he is also planning on a tour dedicated to Gerald’s legacy.

Prince is ready to take a break. After a scheduled London tour, Prince wants to take some down time, read the bible and travel.

Brandy is being hit with another lawsuit. The husband of the woman who was killed in the accident Brandy caused has filed a lawsuit. The husband feels Brandy was recklessly and carelessly traveling too fast. He feels he has been deprived of support, maintenance, services, guidance, companionship and comfort. He is seeking an undisclosed amount of money. His children are also suing Brandy. Brandy has no job at the moment after being dismissed from the NBC show America’s Got Talent. Will she have the money to cover her expenses? She has not been officially charged with vehicular manslaughter? She was not driving under the influence. It was an unfortunate accident, and Brandy is paying steep. This could end her career.

The show goes on for Eddie Murphy despite threats from his ex Mel B. Mel B says Murphy is the father of her baby girl. He won’t return her calls, sign his name on the birth certificate or take a DNA test. Mel had threatened to show up at the Shrek 3 premiere with the baby. Murphy wasn’t taking any chances. He told his girlfriend Tracey Edmonds to stay home, and told his bodyguards to stick by his side. When Murphy showed up at the premiere, he was jovial and he signed autographs. Wherever Eddie went, his bodyguards were close behind. The star studded premiere featured the other stars of the movie Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Antonio Banderas and Justin Timberlake. Murphy plays the voice of the Donkey. A lot of people were surprised he showed up, but he knew he had to promote his movie. Murphy has been stubborn about taking a DNA test, but he needs to settle his business with the former Spice Girl. She’s preparing to do a major TV interview where she will put him on blast. Murphy’s latest movie Norbit arrives on DVD June 5th.


Well guess who’s back together? Vogue Fashionista Andre Leon Talley and Oscar Winner Jennifer Hudson. Talley had taken Hudson under his wing to give her some style, but on Oscar night he had her looking like a fool. That night caused their falling out. Hudson has grown to depend on Talley for his advice and fashion styling, and now they are back together again. Talley and Hudson were recently together turning heads at the Poiret Fashion and Costume Institute Gala event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Oscar De La Hoya may have lost the big fight to Floyd Mayweather, but he is headed to the next edition of Dancing with the Stars. De La Hoya will be one of the participants. He’s also $100 million richer. He got $25 million for the fight and another $75 million through his company, which promoted the fight. Plus, Oscar got a cut of the pay per view profits.

Vivica A. Fox’s new movie, The Salon, hits theatres this week. The movie was filmed almost four years ago. The Salon also stars Terrence Howard, Darrin Dewitt Henson and Kim Whitley.

Justin Timberlake is coming to HBO. He will be doing a live concert special on September 3rd.

Former American Idol Contestant Tamyra Gray is headed to Broadway. She’ll be joining the cast of Rent.

Actor Morris Chestnut will be teaming up with Bishop T.D. Jakes for a film project. Chestnut will star and produce the movie, Not Easily Broken. Not Easily Broken is based on the book by Bishop Jakes. It’s the story of a couple whose strength and faith are tested when the wife is injured in a car accident, and the husband finds himself attracted to another woman.

Queen Latifah and John Travolta grace the cover of the latest edition of The Advocate. The Advocate is the nation’s leading gay publication. Latifah and Travolta are promoting their new movie Hairspray, which is based on the Broadway musical. The movie is coming out this summer. Latifah’s close personal friend Fitness Trainer Jeannette Jenkins has released her first book: The Hollywood Trainer Weight Loss Guide.

It’s a boy for “Tootie!” Actress Kim Fields is a mommy. Fields gave birth to a 6 lb 4oz baby boy last week. Sebastian Alexander Morgan, nickname Sam, is finally here. Fields, 37, and her 30-year old boyfriend Christopher Morgan are very happy. Fields, who is best known for her roles as “Tootie” on The Facts of Life and “Regine” on Living Single, was in labor less than two hours.

Janet Jackson may have a new recording home. Jackson is in talks with Island Def Jam Records, where her boyfriend Jermaine Dupri is President of the Urban Division.

After winning Flavor of Love: Season One and dumping Flavor Flav, Hoopz (a.k.a. Nikki Alexander) is finding her 15 minutes of fame drying up. Hoopz is now exotic dancing and posing nude. She’s scheduled to team up with Uncle Luke (2 Live Crew) for his Freakfest 2007 in Washington, DC.

Singer Isaac Hayes is on his feet and performing again. Early last year, he suffered a stroke. He spent a year recovering. Hayes has been busy with his nightclub and restaurant in Memphis, and he’s been busy with his family. He has 12 kids and 14 grandkids.

Tracy Morgan is teaming up with Ice Cube for the movie First Sunday. Morgan and Ice Cube play two thieves who get locked in a church basement with parishioners.

Does Rapper Jay-Z have a secret love child? Will he finally admit what has been whispered about for years. The young child is six-years old, and the mother is a video model. Why would Jay-Z keep this a secret? He’s almost 40-years old. Why would he deny his child? When the truth comes out, how will he explain it to the public or girlfriend Beyonce?

The Black Family Channel has been saved. The channel is merging with the Gospel Music Channel. The Black Family Channel was having trouble securing cable and satellite distribution.

Is Kali Bower having a change of heart? Bower is the woman who is claiming that Chris Rock may be the father of her 13-year old son. The boy suffers from seizures, and Bower said she wanted to know if Rock was the father. In the 90’s, the two had a fling. Rock has said he will take a test, and if he is the father, he will do the right thing. Now Bower is changing her tune declaring maybe Rock isn’t the daddy.

No more alcohol for Naomi Campbell. The supermodel says she is allergic to alcohol, and she has stopped drinking. Since she stopped drinking, Campbell says she has more energy, and she is having more fun.

Is the CW TV show Girlfriends over? We’ll find out soon. In the season finale, Joan (Tracee Ellis Ross) accepted her boyfriend’s marriage proposal. The show has not been the same since Actress Jill Marie Jones left. Jones played “Toni.” If the show returns, a white actress could be joining the cast as the new girlfriend.

Grey’s Anatomy Star Isaiah Washington has filmed a gay rights PSA ad for GLADD. Washington wants to make amends for making gay slurs against a co-worker. Washington plays “Dr. Burke” on the show, and he’s expected to return to the set of Grey’s Anatomy next season.

This TV Personality has a big mouth, and a lot of people can’t stand her. You either love her or hate her. She’s trying to land a new TV deal, but she realizes she needs to soften her image. Sources say she could be the next spokesperson for Jenny Craig.

Is Whitney Houston getting high again? According to her mentor Clive Davis: NO! Whitney was spotted at a birthday celebration for Stevie Wonder, and there were reports claiming she was red-eyed and out of it. Davis says Whitney is committed to her sobriety. She did take some unflattering photos, but she is not doing drugs. Whitney is preparing to release a new album, and she is also headed back to court to deal with ex-husband Bobby Brown. Bobby has had a change of heart, and he now realizes he wants and needs some alimony money from his ex-wife. At first Bobby said he didn’t want anything, but he realized he wasn’t in the right frame when he went through with the divorce proceedings. Bobby is being managed by his new girlfriend Alicia Etheridge, and she wants to make sure that Bobby is getting his due.

Wedding bells are in the air for Aretha Franklin. The Queen of Soul has lost some weight (Jenny Craig), and she’s gained a new beau. ‘Re Re is in love, and she wants to look great on her big day. Husband number 4 is Willie Wilkerson. He’s a nice looking, very tall, older gentlemen. Franklin was recently honored with a Doctorate degree in music from the University of Pennsylvania.

Mothers’ Day was a lonely one for Jonetta Patton. Patton is Usher’s mom, and he recently fired her as his manager. Usher’s mom doesn’t get along with his fiancйe Tameka Foster. Foster is running Usher’s life right now. She turned her back on her three kids and husband to take up with Usher. Usher has abandoned his family and longtime assistants to be with Foster. Foster has been in Usher’s life for a while. She was the reason he broke up with his longtime love Singer Chilli from TLC. Is Usher whupped? Has Foster turned him out? Will Usher ever make amends with his mother, or will he let his older woman/mother figure continue to run his life?

Jaden Smith, the son of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, has found another acting role after his smash The Pursuit of Happyness. Jaden will be starring in the movie Newton’s Law about a young inventor who gets trapped in a science center while on a field trip.

Get ready for Janet Jackson mania. She is about to sign to her boyfriend Jermaine Dupri’s record label at Island/Def Jam, and the first release will be on the soundtrack of the Rush Hour III movie. Janet will also be starring in the new Tyler Perry movie Why Did I Get Married. Jill Scott also stars. Janet will be playing a college professor.

Actor/Comedian Tracy Morgan is at it again. He’s being accused of groping a woman while on a drunken rampage. Morgan has a serious alcohol abuse problem. He’s due to be fitted for an alcohol monitoring device next week. The device picks up the alcohol vapors that come from your body. If Morgan is caught drinking, he will wind up in jail. Morgan has been involved with numerous DUI incidents, including one last fall.

Is basketball great Michael Jordan turning into the old man at the club? At 44 he’s not old, but he’s not doing well on the singles scene. He likes to approach young women, and he tells them his name is Leroy. Anyone over the age of 12 should know who he is, so why is lying about his age? Ever since his divorce from his wife, he has been acting like a fool.


At the movies, it’s Eddie Murphy in Shrek 3. Murphy has also signed on for the big screen adaption of the TV classic Fantasy Island. Murphy will be playing several characters. Speaking of Eddie and his movies, his latest Dreamgirls took in over $32 million in sales and rentals at the DVD counter.

Actress Lynne Whitfield is pregnant. Whitfield is best known for playing the title role in The Josephine Baker Story. She’s 54-years old, and she’s acting as a surrogate for her younger sister. Whitfield’s youngest sister has suffered several miscarriages. Whitfield is carrying twins, a boy and a girl, and she’s due in October.

The June issue of Ebony magazine is dedicated to the new Black Fathers. Boris Kodjoe and his son Nicholas grace the cover. Gospel sensation Tye Tribbett is also featured in the article with his two young children.

Mary J. Blige is the cover girl for the new issue of Essence magazine. The photo layout is incredible. Mary talks about her life and her knight in shining armor, her hubby Kendu Isaacs. Mary reveals how happy she is now that she no longer has to be with someone who is jealous of her, her career or her money. Look for Mary J. Blige to guest star on an upcoming episode of the hit HBO series Entourage.

Prince is coming out with his line of perfume. 3121 will be available in July. Prince is about to do a series of shows in London. Then, he will take some time off to study the bible and travel.

Beyonce is also getting into the perfume business. Beyonce is going to be the face and voice of Giorgio Armani’s new women’s fragrance.

Bernie Mac and Don Cheadle will be teaming up once again with George Clooney for another Ocean’s movie. Ocean’s Thirteen opens in theatres June 8th. Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Al Pacino, Andy Garcia and Ellen Barkin will also star.

Laurence Fishburne will be featured in the Fantastic Four movie, The Rise of the Silver Surfer, which opens in theatres June 15th.

One of the final projects that Singer Gerald Levert was working on before he died is being released. At the time of his death, Gerald was working on a book project with his dad Eddie called I Got Your Back. The book comes out June 5th, and it talks about love, fatherhood, family and friendship. The book also features one of the last photos taken of Gerald when he was in South Africa visiting Nelson Mandela. Eddie Levert is scheduled to be in Philadelphia on June 15th to do a book signing.
