Add me to the vote that contacts are completely worth it!
I have worn glasses since the 4th grade. Got contacts as a junior in HS, and haven't looked back since. I do keep a backup pair of glasses, just in case there's a problem with the contacts, etc. However, I wear my contacts 99% of the time. My now husband didn't even realize I wore contacts/glasses until we'd been dating for a few months, generally it takes a good 6 months at a new job before my co-workers realize I wear glasses, etc.
Glasses just get in the way. I play racquetball, softball, and volleyball - glasses would be a huge PITA to try to deal with! Not to mention that I have 2 toddlers - on the rare occcasion that I wear my glasses, inevitably one of them has tried to take them off my face or mess with them, etc. I'll be making a trip to Cedar Point soon - glasses and roller coasters aren't terribly compatible. (At least not on the ones that go upside down...)

I couldn't function normally without my contacts!
