I did some research, covering the NPHC and NMGC orgs (the two groups my sorority could possibly be mistaken for membership within), to make sure I didn't inadvertantly choose a name, or color combination, that were already in use. That was probably the easiest part to get right, so I have no sympathy for orgs like the one you're talking about in your post. Everybody has a lazy streak here or there -- and I admit I'll be the first one to holler "don't reinvent the wheel" when appropriate -- but what those orgs have done rises to the level of (their founders) being downright trifling. I can't
stand "trifling-ness"!
