It's not about being a ChiO, ADPi or Sigma, PhiSig, SDT or DPhiE.
Honestly, at the local level it doesn't matter what the letters are, because if you had ChiO instead of SDT or ADPi instead of DPhiE the girls would still be the same. Being a PhiSig instead of an AlphaSig doesn't change you as a person. All of our sororities have great philanthropies, mission statements, creeds, flowers, jewels and patrons, etc...but it comes down to the people, not the letters. ASA was right for me at my school, but who's to say if went to Radford instead that I would have fit better with a different group.
You know what? Maybe being in a sorority just isn't for you. It isn't for everyone.

You know it girl - put it out there, I'll call you on it.
[note to OP - it takes 5 seconds on Google to locate a local sorority - especially if there's only one of it]
ETA: Some people need specific examples - they just don't "get it", and I had a feeling that this is one of those people.

This is quite possibly the truest thing I have ever read on GreekChat.
ETA: It took me less than 2 seconds last night to figure out what school the OP attends. Given that she has already posted some additional personal information, it shouldn't be too hard for her sisters to figure out who she is. Might not be wise to advertise that she's thinking about dropping out and joining a national, unless she wants to create even more conflict in her current sorority.

Actually, I looked at the OP's GLO website, and I can tell exactly who SHE is. I'm not [thee who shall not be named] so I'm not going to post that info, but just know that it was that easy.

Not to mention we've had quite a few posters from that school on here.

Seriously, can you just shut up and stop already?
You may not be posting her name, but you're just as bad for flaunting the fact that you know who the hell she is now.

I'm telling her that she needs to go back and edit some posts - or someone at her school/in her sorority WILL figure out who she is. A lot easier than I did.

Aaaaaand that could have easily been done via PM.
Thanks to you, now a bigger audience will know her identity.

Sounds as though you're already there...
I was actually in a similar situation, but my local went national so I had the best of both worlds. Being in a local is nice, but you're missing out on so much more that a local just can't offer (for instance, going to other states and visiting their chapters, or getting on the national site and asking other member's advice for chapter matters... the list goes on).
Advice- check out the nationals on your campus- get out there and look for letters; ask questions! Socials are perfect opportunities for this, and if you've been an active member, other chapters' members will know this and welcome your questions- heck, they'll probably try to recruit you! And, since you're really not far from Fall Rush, take that opportunity to shop the houses and really see what they have to offer- this is a lifelong committment and you owe it to yourself to find your house!
I don't know about the Panhellenic rules on your campus governing locals, but I'm guessing that you won't have a high degree of resistance (especially if your founders didn't write strong bylaws). You will want to check this out, though.

I totally disagree, it depends on her campus 100%. While technically at my old school someone could have done this, it was frown upon and I don't think any of the three nationals would have took someone who was initiated into a local....different if you started your NM period and then dropped (like I and a few others did).
