I'm a big fan of shotguns for home defense.

They take little skill. They are scary as hell. Think very loud bang. And even chambering a round has a chilling and famliar sound.

I grew up on a very isolated ranch. Daddy taught me early on how to shoot. When my parents had to leave me and my 3 siblings alone, he made sure I knew where the shotgun was, and just told me to be sure the body was in the house (!!!)
