Ahhh you're thinking of Singkil! I never thought of this idea.

The problem is I think the person doing the dance (jumping in and out of the poles) is usually supposed to be a girl. But I'll go ahead and tell akdphis (our sister sorority) about your idea

You could also you Taiko drums or something to. Incorporate Asian cultures...there is so much untapped stuff there.
