Really, I feel like she doesn't even need to do this. However, I do understand her need to have her thoughts heard.

I know I'm posting a little late on this one...But I am very excited about what she is doing. I think that someone should have done this a very long time ago. People always want to find the negative when people try to help others. Unfortunately I have to agree with whoever said that American kids (in general) are more concerned about material things and are not focused on education. So why should she spend her money on them? We also have a lot more opportunities here in America when it comes to getting financial aid to pay for schools that I don't think they have there, or they may not have access to. I applaud everything she has done to make those girls feel like true human beings...Heck...I wish I could go to the school! Did you see those lounge areas?

I cried throughout the whole show. Those girls have the most beautful smiles I have ever seen. It also showed me that I need to smile IN SPITE OF...They have gone through so much, but can still smile and have aspirations. Unbelievable.

I agree with you. If I was Oprah, I would not defend a thing. Her work in Africa should be applauded and encouraged - not criticized.

Go Oprah!

Really, as much as her foundation has done for people in this country, and as much as she personally has done for people in this country, I can't believe folks have the nerve to criticize.

anyone catching "keep the faith" right now...they are discussing "where charity should begin, at home or abroad" with main reference to Oprah's charity work in Africa, some very interesting points have been brought up.
