Rushing at the University of Alabama
I am going to be rushing next year at the University of Alabama and I was just wondering what to expect or if ya'll had any tips on the whole process? I am really excited but very nervous about rush!

I'll just cut to the chase. Do a search of these forums. This question has been asked -- and answered -- twenty seven million times already.

You might also want to check out the Recruitment Stories forum. We've had Alabama recruitment stories told from both PNMs and parents.
Start securing your recs if you haven't done so already.

Okay, I'll confess that I may be a searching idiot, but rarely when I search on GreekChat do I get meaningful results. Usually, the problem is that I get too many threads that don't seem connected to the issue.
Is anybody else willing to repost some of the old info. for people who don't know it or can't find it?

Okay, in this case, the OP needs to look through only the first few pages of the recruitment sections in order to find a plethora of information on Bama recruitment.
GC search is definitely weird, and I certainly don't have any tips other than patience and your browser's "find" function. Sometimes, however, taking just a few moments to browse the forums will bring up lots of relevant threads.
ETA: And the bottom of this page brings up a total of four relevant threads for the OP.

Here's what I think but I didn't go to Alabama:
You will need alumnae recs.
If possible knowing or meeting some girls ahead of time (but not in a way that would constitute dirty rushing) could probably help too. This is not to say that it's necessary; it's not, but who you knew in your hometown and having them looking for you during rush could help if you have that advantage.
You will probably want to dress up but in a conservative way.
You will need to keep an open mind about all of the chapters. Alabama's rates of girls getting matched look great. (You can see their stats. on the Greek Life website if you want to.) But that doesn't mean that all those girls got matched to the group that was their first choice after round one. Be prepared to give groups a second and third chance as the mutual selection process takes place, and you will probably find a home.
Most aspects of rush will be a lot of fun. Prepare as much as you can in advance, but while it's going on, try to have a good time and don't feel too bad about the stuff you can't control.
Good luck!
ETA: Thanks for the links! I'm sure they will be helpful.

AND if you're out of state be even more open minded and even more prepared to give those second and third chances.

Thanks that helps a lot in narrowing down the search for information!

The Alabama Panhellenic Association generally puts out a pretty helpful guide about what to wear for each round of recruitment. Definitely err on the side of conservative/classy. Also, be sure and get recommendations for as many houses as you can - even the houses you may not think you want.
