The most interesting theory I've heard is that the move will put Haliburton's business records beyond the reach of American courts and legislative inquiries as far as discovery and investigation are concerned.

I wonder if the US is still going to award them all of those bull-sh*t no-bid contracts now that they've left the country? And yes, since they moved to the middle east any type of federal investigation against them will be limited in nature.

As I understand it:

no headquarters + no principal place of business = no Personal Jurisdiction

so this theory is what makes the most sense to me.

^^^ As long as they're doing business here, that provides a basis for general, personal jurisdiction. Whether records can be subpoenaed is another matter.

Maybe now some other American companies will develop the capabilities that Halliburton has, thus creating a realistic environment for a more competitive selection process.
