Hmm, I was just searching through some old threads and found this. When I went to Florida this past Christmas, we stopped by a MAC counter in the Florida Mall. The saleslady helped me and I bought a StudioFix compact. It's perfect because it covers well but not too much. I like it light and it lasted the whole day! It was worth the 20something dollars I paid for it. And now that I know my color, I can order online since MAC isn't sold in my area. I just sat down and took some notes from this thread and I'm getting ready to order the Chestnut liner since everyone's been raving about it. Thanks for all the comments.

I love MAC also. But I also use whatever works for me in whatever cost range. Here's a little peek into my makeup bag:
MAC Studio Fix Power (NW 50)
MAC Lipliner (Chestnut)
MAC Lip Glass (Clear)
MAC Lipglass (Oh Baby)
Sinful Colors Lip Gloss (Spaz Attack)
Posner Plexi Shine Lip Gloss (Desire)
Prestige High Shine Lip Gloss (Hustle)
Iman Creme-to-Powder Foundation (Earth #2)
Sinful Colors Lip Stick (Naughty Nature and Wild Cherry)
MAC Lip Lacquer (Shellac)
Sinful Colors Eye Liner (E4-Licorice)
Sinful Colors Lip Liner (P21-Wine)
I really can't wear MAC lip stick, because it dries out my lips. Their glosses are the best though.
If you love MAC colors, yet can't stomach the MAC price tag, you may want to check out Sinful Colors. They are the inexpensive MAC knockoff. Here's the website-
Sinful Colors
You can find them just about everywhere. I usually get mine at local beauty supply stores, and I actually found it at Nordstrom Rack a couple of weeks ago, so you may want to check there also.

M.A.C.'s Seasonal Lip Glass Stain
It's been a while since I've been on GC, HOWEVER, I always have to add my $19.13 to any make up posts.
M.A.C. has this seasonal lip glass stain called Low Light Silver. It looks so good on. You can wear it with or without lip liner. I thought I'd let you M.A.C. groupies know about that.
Also, since I'm broke, I haven't been able to afford eye shadows. One day my sister and I went to ULTA and I looked at their eye shadows and they are the bomb!!! Right now they have this deal that you can buy one, get the other free. Their eye shadows are already $6.50...so you're saving a lot of money!!! I've purchased quite a few colors and they don't wear off or anything. So ladies, if you're broke and you have an ULTA in your area, check it out! Their colors are really nice too.
I'm OUT!

Thanks for the MAC info.

I am a reformed Lancome user.
I have dumped their foundation and powder for Mary Kay's Timewise line. I have oily skin and usually around 10am, my face is SHINY!!!! The first time I used both Mary Kay's Timewise foundation and powder, my face was dry ALL DAY!! It didn't begin to shine until about maybe 8pm. No Lie!
They have reformulated everything, including their shades for women of color. Bye Bye Lancome (and my $65 ).

Great tips Ladies. I tried the Cordouroy, great color for dark skin women. I use Mac all the time but can always use suggestions for great colors.
My favorites:

I'll join the crowd...I love MAC
I have been in love with MAC products since high school. I have also introduced all of my friends and family to MAC. I am loving Studio Tech. Studio Fix was not right for my dry skin, Skin Tech is perfect. I love Prescriptives Custom-Blend Powder. It's expensive, but well worth it. My favorite lip stick is "O", Coconutty, Carnal, and Gel. I can't live without Oh Baby, and now Lure-X (it's yellow, but works). As for the clear lip glass, it's alright. Benefit has the BEST clear lip gloss. It gives great shine, but it's not as sticky and thick as lipglass. Also, it smells like strawberries.

Prescriptives for me
Mac makes me break out but I love Perscriptives! Custom Blend--not cheap though. Here in SF it's $70 for a bottle, they include a purse size also. Revlon makes my skin ashy as does MAC. I need to try IMAN but for now, I like my custom blended Perscriptives. It's very natural looking. Macy's carries the line.
I found Fashion Fair is good for eye makeup and blush. I don't like their foundation, too cakey. Black Opal is good also but I've never tried their foundation.

ALL THAT! Right now, I'm only into lip glass. There's one lipstick that I'll never be able to part from--VERUSHKA!! Ladies, that's the sexiest color ever!

As the country folks say, learn me this, what's the difference between Studio Tech and Studio Fix? I've been using Studio Fix for about three years now. I saw Studio Tech in the store, and I intended to ask the sales lady about it. I got a little sidetracked when the lady told me she couldn't find any more chestnut liners.
I don't remember if I've ever posted in this thread. I probably have but I don't feel like looking Anyway I have to admit, I'm a MAC junkie. My favorite lipsticks are
1. Coconutty
2. Frenzy
3. Chintz
4. Fluid
My powder is Studio Fix NC45
And a chestnut liner goes with it all without question.
I need to try O Baby cause everyone talks about it.
I bought the clear Lip Glass. I like the look but it's a little gooey and sticky. Please make sure you screw the cap on tight before you put it in your purse....been there, done that, and bought the t-shirt twice.

My powder is Studio Fix C7. You should really go and purchase the Oh Baby Lip Glass. The Chestnut liner will serve as the perfect match.
In the lobby of the building where I work, there is the Estee Lauder Company Store, where you can purchase cosmetics and perfumes at a discounted price. They carry Estee Lauder (of course), Lancome, MAC, Bobbi Brown and others. I may need to take a trip downstairs before this week is out (I get paid tomorrow - yippee) and stock up on some more products.

Studio Tech is creamier.

Another way to diversify the look with Oh Baby Lip Glass is to where it with Vino lip liner. It makes the glass look like a totally different color!
