And as far as I'm concerenced...I mean, I would like to have a nice sized engagement ring, but my mom's is a fairly small solitaire and she's never upgraded (they easily could if they wanted) and I think it's gorgeous because it's so simple. I would rather my fiancee and I spend that money on a reception/party and a good honeymoon. The ring can be upgraded...and the important part is getting married, not flashing the rock. That's just a luxury, and not everyone gets that luxury...and that's ok.
Dude...I seriously love you. Let's be best friends fo' lyfe. I have no clue what I want my wedding to be like either..well except for all the joke themed weddings I've come up with like my taekwondo wedding or my Red Sox wedding. But seriously...you rock.

Taekwondo theme would be awesome. Especially at the reception...
Much to my mom's dismay, I find themed weddings insanely more interesting than traditional ones...I mean really, every time I've sat through one I've been bored until the party part. I think a themed wedding and an open bar would be extremely entertaining.

When I get engaged you are SO invited

Diamond Darling...I had this great white trash idea that my reception could be at Burger King and all the guests get $5 to order what they want. That way everyone is happy. And we'd serve the strawberry cheesecake pie things as wedding cake. There's a heaping pile of class right there.

I've noticed that (decent) rings go from 1500-3000 average. But, it depends on the cut, style, setting and area. My ring total was around 1500 but that was WAY cheaper for the ring I got because he made it himself. (built a kiln, melted gold, made setting, etc) Mine is a .76 princess cut diamond set in 6 pennyweights of white gold. (The average solitare setting is 1-2 pw's)

That ring is gorgeous. It looks very decent to me!

It isn't my dream engagement ring, but I would be perfectly happy with that

Well for starters, it didn't contribute to the oppression and exploitation of people in Africa, gosh darn it!

If my diamond doesn't have the blood of 100 African children on it, I'm sending it back.

I guess its to each his own cuz that ring did nothing for me personally...the ring we looked at (we're still just looking) is way more...but its really what makes you happy and what he can afford...one of my good friends is happy with her small ring she got 9 years ago and another friend can't wait to upgrade and its been 1 1/2 years...

Hey, you can have all moissanite you want, I'll stick with my diamond.

And when I was talking about "decent" I was talking more on the lines of nice quality modest rings. Oh, and I don't like that ring you linked, sorry, but I personally can't stand the typical solitaire. If it's good for you, go at it
