What surprises me is that it's being produced by John Singleton and Stephanie Allain, both AfAm.

Same thing I heard..
I saw an interview where the actress said something to the effect that Samuel L. Jackson's character is like a best-friend of her character and he chains her up to keep her from going out to do drugs. The trailers are misleading. I might check it out.

Controversy generates buzz, which generates moviegoers, which equates to (usually) cha-ching ($$$$)!
I don't know what you all are talking about. I'm going to find this trailer.

Found it:

The title? It's different, but I'm not going to say a porn title. The poster is pushing it.
I've seen worse. John and 'em ARE pushing the envelope. It could become a cult classic.

I've seen some interviews and the trailer as well. I'm intrigued enough to go see it...provided that it actually makes its way down here to the 5th Circle of Hell (b.k.a. Monroe).

I have to agree..I went and saw the movie a couple of weeks ago and loved it. I wasn't thrilled with JT's acting, but Ricci and Jackson definitely played their roles. I admit that the trailors/previews were attention grabbing therefore creating a buzz so that people came out to the theatres.
This is the same director who brought us "Hustle & Flow," and he is basically trying to bring the history of music in the South to the big screen...this movie has a lot of Blues influence throughout it...hence the name of the movie is an old Blues song.
Great film and glad to see Singleton financially back it...
