Now they're gonna limit the size of coolers on the comal to the small-ass ones that only hold a sixer and only allow one tube per person (no beer tubes), no second trip, and about 300 other BS laws. I hate that shit tho. The river has been that way for the last 20 years. Some ass-clown who KNOWS damn well what the river is like for those 4 months of the year buys property on the river and then demands a change. It's like the dumbasses who buy on a busy street and then bitch about the noise and traffic.
It's no big deal tho because the new rules only apply to the Comal and the Guad from Gruene into NB. The Comal is ghey anyway, and you deserve to put up with those rules for being dumb enough to float it. If ya float the Guad from the 3rd to 2nd crossing or Hueco Falls into Gruene, you never see any cops, there's no stupid city rules, it's about $10 cheaper and its a better ride overall.
I'm sure people will be all up in arms about it tho.
On another note... My five year old nephew is well on his way to being a proud Houstonian. He's spent this week running around pretending he's Marvin Zindler. He's even got the voice down. 'Eyyyyyyyyyewitness news.' Only in Houston. God help him.

I think the comal and the Guadalupe from Gruene are the worst parts. Obviously an amateur if you like floating from there.

That person is seriously disturbing. I have an extremely hard time taking the newscasters in Houston seriously. All of them seem to lack the professionalism that you would expect for newscasters in the 4th largest city in America.
However, I find myself liking Texas today for the sole reason that I found out there is no state income tax. Yay!

Evidently sensing sarcasm isn't one of your strong points.

Beer banned in parks, cooler rules adopted
By Suzanne Ashe
The Herald-Zeitung
Published February 13, 2007
The heat was on for coolers at the New Braunfels City Council meeting Monday night.
After the council heard from more than two dozen residents, the council voted 4-3 to regulate the size of coolers that could be used on the Comal and Guadalupe rivers inside the city limits.
The council also voted 5-2 Monday to ban open containers in Hinman Island and Prince Solms parks.
Before the cooler vote, District 6 Councilman Ken Valentine made a motion to amend the ordinance to change the size of the small coolers
“I make motion to approve the ordinance with adjustments to amend and change dimensions of the six-can cooler to 8- x 6- x 7-inches for the Comal River and change the dimension on the Guadalupe to 11- x 8- x-7- inches,” Valentine said.
That further reduced the cooler size from the original dimensions — 9- x 6- x 9- inches for the Comal and 11- x 9- x 10-inches for the Guadalupe — passed three weeks ago when the cooler ordinance first went before the council.
Valentine said he had heard that the original six-can cooler dimension actually would allow nine cans to fit in a cooler and the originally proposed 12-can cooler possibly could fit up to 18 cans.
District 5 Councilwoman Kathleen Krueger said she was “in total support” of the ordinance and seconded Valentine’s motion.
However, District Councilwoman Gayle Pospisil opposed the cooler ordinance.
“I don’t think this is a compromise,” she said. “I’m not happy with the RAC (River Activities Committee) results and cannot support the cooler ordinance as it is now.”
Mayor Bruce Boyer also said he couldn’t support the smaller cooler ordinance and was surprised by the amount of communications he had received on the issue.
“I was amazed at the amount of communication we got,” he said. “I got a lot from families that indicate they can’t do this — the little coolers,” he said. “If we do this, we have said to a large majority of people we’re gonna tell y’all what to do, so I can’t support little container. We need to give families more of an opportunity to enjoy the Comal.”
Lengthy discussion
Discussion on the cooler ordinance lasted for three-and-a-half hours. The sparks began flying when RAC vice chairman Dick Hilyer began presenting the River Activities Committee’s final recommendations. RAC member Irene Allen stood up at back of the council chambers and protested Hilyer’s report. Allen and RAC member Valerie Hull dissented when the river committee voted on the proposal last week.
“I have not seen this before,” she said. “This is not the opinion of the river activities committee.”
Boyer hushed Allen to allow Hilyer to continue.
“RAC would rather have a four-can cooler, but we are compromising and going with a six-can cooler and 12-can coolers,” Hilyer said. “You can still have mesh bags for incidentals, but they can’t have any containers that contain liquids.”
Majority of speakers opposed rules
The audience of about 100 New Braunfels residents had a lot to say to council when it came their turn to speak out.

Sigh, well it looks like Bergheim will be my new spot.
