I thought about pre-ordering it but every site said 2-3 day delivery (unless I wanted to pay like 20 bucks extra for overnight). Nothing on the sites "guareteed" I would have it the 21st. So I said forget. I'll just go to Target at 8am, or hell Walmart the night before.

That's my problem too. My friends keep saying that I'll get the book the same day but I just don't see how this is possible. I preordered mine from Borders for in-store pick-up instead.

I've done this in the past and been really happy with their service. It works as long as its not a huge pain in the butt to get to Borders.

I've not read all 45 pages of this thread, so if someone has already said this, forgive me.

I just started rereading the series. I probably jumped the gun a little, b/c I'm sure I'll finish way before July 21. But, that's beside the point. I'm wondering if Rowling has provided us a little foreshadowing about who dies in book 7. In HP&SS, the first time Harry hears the password into the Gryffindor commons, it's "Caput Draconis". As in, Draco is Caput? Just a theory, but I couldn't help but wonder when I read that.

That's a fun theory, but Caput Draconis is Latin for "dragon's head," and is a term for the North node of the moon. That doesn't mean that your theory is incorrect though, seeing as how JK likes to put hidden meanings everywhere. And I'd rather think it's Draco that dies than who I think it will be...

Costco was the cheapest place I found the HP books and on the day they came out, the stack was about 50 volumes high by 50 volumes wide. I think it was 50% off list.

Can't wait!

Me, too. It's always seemed to me that Ron's death has been heavily foreshadowed throughout, starting with the chess game on the way to the Sorcerer's Stone.

The Weasley family is going to get hit hard. But I don't want it to be Ron. Or the twins. Or Ginny. Percy can go sod off and die though. Was it Bill who's the werewolf now? If so than Charlie's probably up for grabs. Is it bad that I think Mrs. Weasley's more likely to go than Mr. Weasley?

The book covers were revealed this morning!

The U.S. Version

The U.KK. Adult & Children's version

Courtesy of the Leaky Cauldron

Summary of the inside flap:

Harry has been burdened with a dark, dangerous and seemingly impossible task: that of locating and destroying Voldemort’s remaining Horcruxes. Never has Harry felt so alone, or faced a future so full of shadows. But Harry must somehow find within himself the strength to complete the task he has been given. He must leave the warmth, safety , and companionship of The Burrow and follow without fear or hesitation the inexorable path laid out for him…

In this final, seventh installment of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling unveils in spectactular fashion the answers to the many questions that have been so eagerly awaited. The spellbinding, richly woven narrative, which plunges, twists and turns at a breathtaking pace, confirms the author as a mistress of storytelling, whose books will be read, reread and read again."

And on the back of the adult edition:

"Harry is waiting in Privet Drive. The Order of the Phoenix is coming to escort him safely away without Voldemort and his supporters knowing – if they can. But what will Harry do then? How can he fulfil the momentous and seemingly impossible task that Professor Dumbledore has left him with?"

I'm loving the U.K. book cover with Slytherin's locket on it. YAY!!!

Here's more.

On the U.S. Cover, it looks like Harry & Voldemort are inside the veil? Somewhere by the veil? In the Ministry of Magic? That's what it looks like to me.

On the U.K. Children's cover, the expressions on the faces of Ron & Hermione are pretty scary. They look terrified while Harry looks determined.

Why is Ron holding Gryffindor's sword? Are they inside Gringott's? It looks that way based on all the gold & stuff.

On the U.S. cover, Harry & Voldemort aren't facing each other. They are facing something (someone?) else. Interesting...Maybe Sirius makes an appearance? Or all Voldemorts victims?
I WANT THIS BOOK NOW!!!

I must reread OOTP on the chapter that describes the room where the veil is at.

It looks to me like they're both reaching for something in the air. I don't even think it's wandless magic.

The question on the UK one is, are they being sucked in, or spat out of the archway?

Also, I just read a very convincing opinion that McGonnegal (I can't spell her name) is Voldemort's spy. DAMN convincing. If anyone here would like I'll post the link (LJ). It makes me want to reread the books. I've always said Snape is not a bad guy, but I'd never thought Minerva would be the double agent...

I agree. I think they're reaching for the final horcrux (whichever one it is). It's spinning, falling to the ground, certainly neither HP nor V want the other to get it, so they're both reaching. I should add though, that I only saw the unveiling on the Today show this morning - I haven't gone to the link to study any of them.

Drolefille, I'd definitely be interested in reading the Minerva Theory.

Okay, I have to read that because I absolutely don't believe it.
