Give the name and chapter of the sister who founded her own bakery, and is now famous across the South for her orange rolls and sausage rolls. ( if you need a hint, look back at some of the old Angelos over the last year)
First one to get it right, I'll send you some of the rolls...

May I Crash?!?
OMG -- I LOVE Sister Schubert rolls!
Patricia Wood Barnes, Delta Delta-Troy. In 1989, Sister Schubert (dubbed "Sister" by a sibling) was baking her now famous rolls in the kitchen of her home for her small catering business and for friends and family using recipes belonging to her grandmother and other family members.

Darn, I missed being first. I ONLY know that from the Angelos. Thanks for that clue.
And no, I've never seen the old badge. Is it online anywhere? I heard it's simple green/silver from the GC archives, but I can't find a pic to save my life.

Never hear of Sister Schubert rolls until I went to convention in '05. We don't get them out here in Southern CA. Someday when I am in the south, I will have to try them.

Hmm, I haven't heard of Sister Schubert rolls either. I guess I haven't been thoroughly reading my issues of The Angelos. Interesting trivia, Cheryl!
KDAngel, here is a b/w photo of the original KD badge: It was silver with olive green enamel and was pretty large as sorority pins go.

I have one of those badges, but it's not large. It has a diamond on each of the points.
I'm going to my safe deposit box tomorrow, so I'll get it & take a picture of it. Thought I had one on my computer, but apparently I don't.

Hmm, Lil Leslie was wearing one and I remember it being kinda big. Maybe my brain's just fried. How did you get one!? For some reason I thought they were specially made for National Council members and past members. ??
I'm looking forward to seeing a photo of yours!

Maybe the NOs get them made, but mine is an original, from 1918.
I got it from an ebay auction, and yes, I notified KD HQ about it. They told me I had "the find of the year!" It's the badge of the first initiate of (now closed) Psi chapter.
I kept the image extra large so you could see the detail:
I was advised by pin collectors not to get the patina removed from the badge, which is why it looks dirty.
I'd love to think of some creative - and secure - way for me to wear this badge. Whenever I wear it, I'm always afraid I'm going to lose it.

6 years after I wrote this, I saw frozen packages of Sister Schubert rolls in the grocery store yesterday. Didn't buy them but nice to know they have finally made their way to Southern CA.
