Morris Brown was pretty bad off.

http://www.ajc.com/search/content/sh..._0104_COX.html

It is a shame about Morris Brown, but I think the Atlanta University Center in general is doing well.

Perhaps the film money went to the Center in general.

This is just an attempt to allow NPHC members to brag on their groups: I'm not putting any group down:

Often I am amazed at how many leaders and racial pioneers were members of Alpha Phi Alpha. As far as I know, DuBois, King, Marshall, and (I think) one of my personal heroes, Hamilton Holmes were all Alpha Phi Alpha members. It's like a master list of 20th century leadership, and it's kind of awe inspiring.

Delta Sigma Theta often seems the same way for women's groups, with some Alpha Kappa Alpha members in the spotlight too.

I suspect that other groups are represented just as well, but I'm ignorant of the members who were in other groups.

Please educate me: Who are the members of your groups of whom you are most proud?

Again, I'm not trying to slight the other groups. I just want to know my history better.

Delta Sigma Theta has many distinguished members, those well known and those more obscure.

When I think of distinguished Sorors, off of the top of my head, I name our Founders, past National Presidents Dorothy I. Height and Marcia Fudge, Esq., Stephanie Tubbs Jones, Mary McLeod Bethune, Joan Higginbotham.

As I said earlier, many, many of our members are distinguished and lead in their fields.

I invite you to peruse this thread: http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/sh...ad.php?t=33939

Again, I named few off of the top of my head.

Famous SGRhos

Although Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is the youngest sorority of the NPHC (founded in 1922), we are not without distinguished or famous members. The famous and distinguished member that I am probably most proud of because she broke through so many barriers and paved the way for Blacks in Hollywood and entertainment today, is Soror Hattie McDaniel. Hattie was the first African American to sing on network radio and the first African American ever to win an Oscar for her role as "Mammy" in the movie, Gone With The Wind.

Some other famous sorors more current are Victoria Rowell and Tonya Lee Williams (The Young and the Restless) and even more recent, Kelly Price (singer) and MC Lyte (rapper, actress). There are also many others including some Congresswomen, artists, talk show hosts, comedians, etc. For more, go to www.sgrho1922.org.

Peace.

aurorablue,

When I try to use that link, my computer goes to a dating site. Is there another web address you know of?

Edit: When I try the link with .org instead of .com, I get where I need to be

Thank you!
