Wait around long enough and that will change.

Very true. Personally, the NPHC could kick out my org, replace us with KA Order or some band fraternity, and my work, love, and dedication for MY fraternity would not change a bit. I couldn't even tell you the president of the NPHC. The council didn't initiate me.

The NPHC isn't even a "council" persay. It is more of a trade association. As far as I know, there is very little regulation of member organizations. While there are general guidelines they all agree on, NPHC does not regulate things such as when an org can do intake, etc.

Correct. It's usually referred to as an "umbrella organization."

Yea, but technically NPC is an umbrella org too, so to me umbrella org is way to broad of a term to apply. Sure they both have member orgs, but the differences betwee NPC and NPHC and NIC are all huge.

Yeah but when it all comes down to it, like Phrozen said, I didn't pledge my life to the NPHC. So the "umbrella" is cool for a representation of the whole and voicing common interests like the ban on pledging. But none of the D9 would be thrilled if the NPHC started interfering with the most minute details of our organizations. That's what WE have local, regional, and national entities for.

The North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) is not a governing or regulatory board. It is a voluntary trade association.
