Very, very true. On the other hand WE are by far the best resource. I think it's one thing for a person to say that they personally don't want to answer questions like his....that's cool cuz that's a personal preference. It's another thing to say somebody SHOULDN'T go directly to the source to ask a question. Me.... I don't mind little questions like that. I mean all I did was give him a start. If he wants to learn even more I'm sure he'll research further himself. I'll tell interestees to go look it up for their damn selves all day long, but only cuz they're interestees and that's their job. He's not one, so I tend to treat the two situations differently, BUT that's just me...

P.S. Ejay, to say all of that about Black greeks was sort of EXTRA....lol. Like I know there are some of us that are siditty to say the least, but the ones who live up to the true principles of their respective orgs far outnumber the others.

I see that you are a rather new initiate. I would just like to let you know that there are certainly reasons why people respond to GC members such as elephant walk the way that they do. If you would just take a moment and review the types of posts, insults and other types of comments made by elephant walk in particular, you would possibly understand more clearly why many on the site don't have patience for his so-called "questions".

On a broader note, which is why I referenced your being a new initiate, you will learn as you grow in our sorority that there are various experiences throughout all of our lives as Deltas and members of other bglos that prompt certain responses. Things aren't very different on this site. I, too, have seen members of our organizations go overboard in their reactions to inquiries posed by other organizations' members, but the more you get around and interact with people as a member of this or any other organization, you will see why some feel the need to simply ask curious people to look various bit of information up on their own. Welcome to Delta and have a good one.

Same advice that was given to my soror. Stick around, get to know the various posters and their personalities and you'll get your explanation. BTW many of the Black Greeks here on GC stick to the BGLO forums. So there are a good number that you haven't seen post, which is why your generalization is inappropriate. And I am not being hostile. Yes, I'm new, but even if I wasn't I'm almost positive I wouldn't understand why it was so bad for me to give him a link to a paper. That's the type of person I am and have always been.....a teacher. I mean, I understand that after a while you probably get tired of answering certain crap over and over again, but what he wanted to know wasn't a trivial matter. I read all of his previous posts and yes he WAS rude as I previously stated, but I still wanted him to get informed. Maybe I'm too nice. I was just trying to help him out. It's cool though. I'm off it.

This may've been said to you already but, Soror, when you get more time in Delta you will learn that every inquiry isn't a genuine one. Our charge as Deltas isn't to jump whenever people say "jump."

I can't count how many times someone has come to me with a question that technically COULD or even SHOULD be answered, but they came at me wrong or in an inappropriate environment. If someone is curious they won't phrase their curiosity in a demeaning or belittling manner like Elephant Man started this thread.

I wish more Greeks had the same attitude and mentality that you have. It would eliminate a lot of needless contention and hostility.
