While it feels like being on holiday since my boss isn't here, being at work during those "dead days" between Christmas and NYE really sucks donkeys.

I normally like the "dead week" since nobody is here in our office, half the carriers we deal with are closed, and I can get my work done since there's no one here getting in my face.

However...there seems to be a surplus of people in the office this week and stupid requests from hither and yon. This is unacceptable.

We're not allowed to take this week off, but most of our clients are closed so there's not a lot of work to do. I was hoping we'd have our long department meeting this afternoon to eat up a few hours, but we're not going to bother. I'm just going to read wikipedia all afternoon.

Work was a real snoozer today. Probably 60-70% of the employees took this week off, so I had no IT support work to do, and I don't have any software design/development projects yet. My boss is out as well. So I read some documentation. *snore*

But I'm off tomorrow and Friday, and visiting friends for New Year's.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Working in Development during the holidays pretty much sucks.

Its pretty bad when I'm two hours late, just walked in, and am already making excuses to walk across the street to Starbucks to stay away from my desk. I've just been very antsy this week! Is it okay to take a half day when I was already late?

As an aside, since I have to direct several shows beginning at 5:30 PM and ending at 11:00 PM -- why did the brain trust in "carpetland" decide to hold a mandatory meeting at 11:00 AM?
