This is why Miss America does everything it can to distance itself from Miss USA. I can't believe there are no reprecussions for this. I realize that people make mistakes, but how many little girls do you know who want to be just like Tara Conner?

So because she made the bad judgement of underage drinking (which I'm sure more than half the people on this board alone have, hell I did it) she shouldn't be a role model for little girls?

How about the fact that she has drive and perseverance? What about never letting go of your dreams? That is what I'm trying to teach my students! That you can succeed with your dreams no matter how big or small they are.

And there is a reprecussion for what she did, she has to enter rehab. It's not like she got a slap on the wrist and said don't drink again. (Not that I've had to enter rehab, but I'm sure some of them aren't all butterflies and dandelions, she could possibly be sent to a "stricter" one because of who she is, and that the public will find out what rehab she has entered).

Maybe now the Miss Universe organization will realize "hmm maybe we shouldn't put underage women who have never lived in a huge city in their entire lives in a rent free, luxury apartment with no supervision for a whole year"

No, they found COCAINE in her system. Do you want your kids thinking "hey, I can snort cocaine and it will not hurt me"? That is a considerably more dangerous message from "I can drink alcohol and it will not hurt me".

BTW, Miss Nevada USA 2007 just got into some trouble too for some scandalous party pictures:

Where are you hearing about the cocaine? I've heard that report was false. And also, underage drinking is one thing. Drug use is another.

I can't see the Donald allowing Tara to remain Miss USA if the reports of drug use were actually true. Underage drinking, obviously we know he allowed that.

Maybe I have my info wrong...I thought that when she was asked about the cocaine, she made the "personal demons" statement, and IMO, not denying it is as good as confirming it.

I haven't read her interview or what she said. But I don't know, I think everyone has personal demons of their own to fight, they aren't always associated with drugs or alcohol. For all we know her personal demons could be that she was underage drinking and is depressed, who knows.

I read depressed as repressed. That could be the freudian slip regarding her makeout sessions with her roomie though.

So she gets to keep her title. I think America's pretty much with over with her by now and I really don't know how she'll be able to continue her public appearances for the organization without having to face public scrutiny.

Hell, I'd heckle at her.

Yes, but she signed a contract prohibiting the sort of activities that she did. She knew what the punishment was, and she knows that she has a lot of eyes on her, so it's not like she wouldn't get caught. Bad judgment? Perhaps, but it's not like it wasn't spelled out for her loud and clear to begin with.

I thought that the Miss-whatevers were all pretty well supervised, particularly Miss Teen. They have people who go with them pretty much everywhere.

I don't know that I agree with using any of this Miss-Whatevers as role models for children. Particularly Miss Whatevers who earned their crown solely by their looks, in pageants where there's no talent competition and the interview only counts for a very short portion.

I just read that MADD will no longer be using the current Miss Teen USA as one of their spokeswoman for her role in all of this.
