Theta Kappa Nu was founded in 1924 by 11 local fraternities. The alumnus who won the ritual is from Theta-Delta Zeta (formerly Oklahoma Alpha) at Oklahoma City University, one of those original eleven.

It's more than just in the family. It went home.

Brothers,

Jono is right. It went to one of the brothers from Theta-Delta Zeta, where I'm an active right now. This brother has been extremely active on eBay, buying fraternity paraphanelia new and old for quite some and time. Along with the ritual book, he got a copy of "The Neophyte Book", which is like the pledge manual of TKN. He let me look at it about a week ago and it's quite neat...especially considering there are handwritten notes from the pledge that it belonged to.

I haven't seen the ritual book yet...and In fact last I talked to him he said he hadn't gotten it yet. As soon as I find out, I'll let you guys know about it, without revealing anything that shouldn't be revealed.

But no worries, the book is in safe hands, that of a buyer from one of the 11 original fraternities that Theta Kappa Nu originated from...now Theta-Delta Zeta at Oklahoma City University.

First, one must remember that Brother Jono while not 100 % of the time is only @ 99.9 % of the time correct.

It found a good home and that is good.

I have a TKN Pledge Manual and amazing as it may seem to those that have never seen one how actually close it is to LXA Paedagogus.

That is how close that the merger became. Todays New Associate ritual is part of TKN, along with the C of A and New Assocuate Pin.That was a hand in glove merger at the time. But never forget, TKN had many great days.

It normaly took 15 years to become a member of NIC and it took them 3 years. They became one of the fastest growing Fraternities of thier time. They spread far and wide because of their beleifs and as I said fit well with LXA in the merger.

This is something I've been wondering about ever since hillhouse3 listed all those items.

If The Neophyte Book is a TKN pledge manual, and the Vir Quisque Vir Est is a TKN pledge manual, then what's the difference between the two?

Well I have the Vir Quisque Vir Est......and it too is much like our Paedagogus.....I was wondering the same thing, and as far as the description goes, mine had more pages, and I dont really know the significance of that either. So any help info would be much appreciated.

Just like the Paed, TKN had a few issues of their pledge manual that
came out in different years. Sometimes publications change names
(ex. PG&G -> C&C). No big mystery there. I have a copy of the last
VQV and yes it is much shorter than previous versions (have photocopies
of those). That was because of the depression....everything was shortened
to save on printing cost.

I scanned and posted some of the more interesting pages of the VQV online
if you're interested:

Lightbulb TKN Ritual

Hello everyone. I've been dropping by for a while but I never posted until now... The Hanover College Duggan Archives possesses a copy of the TKN ritualist manual and key left over after our merger. I stumbled across it when I was doing research on Theta-Zeta's local history. It is a fascinating read for sure, especially as High Phi. I'd be happy to make copies of it for anyone who is interested. Let me know.
