Playstation 2 has more third party support and a wider selection of games then Xbox. However hardware wise the Xbox is much more advanced then the Playstation 2. I personally couldn’t justify purchasing an Xbox till its at least been on the market for a year. This is all new ground for Microsoft and they could completely bomb if things don’t go their way. Its a lot like the Panasonic 3DO, great system years ahead of any other console but it failed miserably in the long run due to lack of games and high prices. I purchased a Nintendo Gamecube I really like there first party games (Mario, Zelda, Metroid etc.) and its significantly cheaper then either the Xbox or Playstation 2.

The Xbox is just a computer shoved into a giant case. And you play it with giant controllers. If I want PC games, I'll play them on my PC, thank you very much.

While I was not overly impressed with the PS2 for its original price tag and the fuss it casued, its a solid system. And the controller design is awesome. Easy to hold, just enough buttons. The Xbox controller is massive, WAY too large for my small hands. I'm very picky about controllers. I found the Dreamcast controller to be odd - it caused cramps in my pinky fingers. The Genesis controller was just too big. Playstation got it right the first time, and didn't need much improvement for the PS2

In a few years, we'll probably be laughing about the Xbox the way we laugh about a Neo-Geo or 3D0 today.

The GameCube is sexy. Small, sleek, great control pad and AMAZING graphics. Can't wait to get one. Super Smash Bros. Melee is supposed to be a religious experience

Sega makes the best games, and they've signed on to launch tons for the X-box, so i doubt they're going anywere but the top...

Yep. I get the feeling that sega gives up too quickly on their actual consoles. Sega cd, 32x, and now dreamcast sure went out quickly. Okay so sega cd and 32x weren't great but dreamcast is pretty decent.
