Losing by 3.....in Columbus......to the #1 team in the country = getting spanked?

I certainly wouldn't call it a spanking. In many ways Ohio State might be better off not having to play Michigan again.
I think the Buckeyes would win again -- but I wouldn't put money on it.
I also think they'll be national champions. But then I've been impressed with Ohio State all year.

Spanked. I was totally unimpressed by Michigan in that game.

The scoreboard indicated a 3 point game, but it wasn't. I agree with Spanked. Michigan never had the lead.
Texas lost to KSU by only 3 points, but anyone who saw the game would agree that was a spanking, also.

Are you kidding me? Thats like telling someon from USC that they got "spanked" in the National Championship last year. Don't be an idiot. The Kansas State game was a spanking.....but you can't compare it to Michigan Ohio State. We lost our QB, had no pass game, got destroyed through the air, and gave up 45 points.
Let's see, Michigan and Ohio State were nearly identical in terms of offense. Michigan having a total collapse in their run defense didn't help......and was probobly the deciding factor in the game because it allowed Ohio State to control the clock better. That 50+ yard TD run up the middle on a draw in the 2nd quarter didn't help either. Michigan was also a terrible 4-13 on 3rd down. Aside from that......I saw a Michigan team rack up 400 yards of offense and force 3 turnovers in one of the toughest places in football to play. Ohio State doesn't lose there. Michigan led the game in the first quarter.......and outscored Ohio State in the 3rd and 4th quarters. If anything, Michigan had Ohio State clearly on the ropes. To say that Michigan got "spanked" is extremely moronic.

It almost seems like OSU should just be given the BCS Championship and the bowl game should be between Michigan and Florida to determine 2nd place. OSU is the only undefeated team and statistically, outranks everybody else.
Michigan had an outstanding season. Unfortunately, it coincided with Ohio State's more outstanding season and they are in the same conference. I don't think anybody in Michigan really believed we'd go to the BCS Championship bowl game because we did play them already (and lost, and it wasn't a spanking, it was a very close game), the television market wouldn't be as good if two teams from the same conference were playing, and, they really don't want OSU to lose and Michigan is the only team that has the ability to beat them.

I was enjoying your post right up until "and, they really don't want OSU to lose and Michigan is the only team that has the ability to beat them." The sweatervest is 5-1 vs. Michigan.
While it wasn't a spanking, Ohio State-Michigan, IMO, was not as close as the final score appeared. Absent Michigan's opening drive TD, they never led, and were down 14 points at halftime. OSU had two second-half, unforced turnovers (bad snaps from center, which is why I call them unforced), one deep in their own territory that led to 10 Michigan points. Michigan did cash it in (credit to them), but I don't think it was, in reality, a 3-point contest.
I think OSU-Florida will be a good game. I think the Buckeyes will prevail.

Brother, I agree with you.
And just for the record: Michigan leads the overall series 57-40-6 and the conference series 45-40-4.

The only rivalry, that I know of off the top of my head, that is closer is Boston VS New York. IIRC, over past four years or so, they are just about even.

Nebraska vs Oklahoma is 43-37-3 in favor of Oklahoma. Considering the number of times (dozens) that both teams were ranked in the Top 15 at the time and an Orange Bowl or other top bowl/Conference Championship was on the line, I'd say it ranks right up there.

I'd say so. I remember this game being huge -- much larger than OU-TX back in the Big 8 days. I wouldn't mind seeing the Big XII restructured so that OU and NU have an annual game or simply playing the game in the OOC schedule when it's not part of regular conference play. I can't imagine a realignment would work out too well. Too many rivalries within the conference already.

I also remember from yesterday's Army/Navy game, the series was 50-49-7, in favor of Navy.

I think Urban Meyer is amazing personally. I think he has a lot of tact and wouldn't have talked shit. He might not be warm and fuzzy as a person, but in two years he's turned our football team around from the embarassment that was Zook. I also don't think Urban is getting enough credit. I love some of the plays that he comes up with, especially with Tebow and Leak as a team.
