Police brutality, are you serious? They used a taser. Its not like they beat him into a bloody pulp with a night stick.

he previously said that he was already leaving prior to him being tased. from what i heard from a few UCLA students, he was already leaving when a cop decided to put his hands on him, and he took exception to that. said exception lead him to being tased. not sure how true it is, because it's word of mouth.
yes it is police brutality and abuse of power because they used a taser on him when in no way was it needed. he repeated that he was already leaving, so was this whole thing really even needed? i sure as hell would tell a cop to fuck off when he sent x number of volts through my body particularly if it didn't need to go there. he was tased not once, but damn near 5 times.
he has a helluva case, and someone's getting fired and someone else is getting paid. i'm sure your dad would sue the hell out of your school if a cop tased you for not having a student ID.

I love how he was pretty much limp at the end of the video when they were carrying/dragging him out. I wonder what happened to him after all of this? I would think that several cops should be able to handle one average sized student.

My dad would sue the hell out of the school if some guy, who had no student ID because he was actually Ted Bundy, came into the library where I was studying one night and murdered me. Was this kid a serial killer? No. But those rules are there for a reason. He refused to abide by the rules, so he had to be forcibly removed. If I were a cop, I'd prefer to taze him than to have to exchange blows with him in a fistfight and risk him getting close enough to grab my gun.
Some people get so caught up in protecting one person's rights that they forget that the rest of us have rights, too. I have the right to go study in the library late at night, secure in the knowledge that only other students with valid IDs can be in there with me. The bottom line is that he didn't have the right to be there without his ID, and he necessitated the involvement of the police by refusing to leave. I'm a big fan of people getting what they deserve, and I can't say I object to this.

and he already said he was leaving prior to him being tased. or did you miss that part? yea, it was ok to tase a college student without an ID 5 times.

I believe, if I recall correctly, that he refused to leave before the tape started rolling, then started throwing a tantrum, then the recording starts and then what we see is 'unnecessary force'. This video is completely slanted to cause the reactions many of you are having (screw The Man, abuse of power, student did nothing wrong etc etc.).

from what i've heard was that he was leaving, the copped put his hands on him while he was leaving which caused him to get irate. whether or not that was the correct reaction is up to interpretation. however, i highly doubt the person videotaping this from a camera phone had the ulterior motive of painting the police in a poor fashion.

It's not a camera phone, the quality is too good. I don't doubt he was trying to show the police in a poor light at all. In my experience, most college students despise the police. I don't.

"The CSOs left, returning minutes later, and police officers arrived to escort the student out. By this time the student had begun to walk toward the door with his backpack when an officer approached him and grabbed his arm, at which point the student told the officer to let him go. A second officer then approached the student as well. "
"Video shot from a student's camera phone captured the student yelling, "Here's your Patriot Act, here's your fucking abuse of power," while he struggled with the officers"
quality too good, huh?
yea, i'm sure that the guy videotaping it from a camera phone sure was thinking "lemme get this so i can get back at the cops."
uhhhh.........
