And, they aren't nearly as expensive to begin with. Smart move on Nintendo's part.

Didn't get one *sniffle*
Which is not surprising as I didn't pre-order one OR wait in line at midnight.

I watched people play with one while I was in Orlanda this weekend. They were giving one away, but *mysteriously* enough, nobody won it....
There was boxing, golf, and bowling on it. You just strap the controls to your hands and play like virtual reality! It looked cool, I wish I'd gotten a turn, but the boys were hogging it...

It's all about Microsoft's XBox 360.

I'll be getting one of those next. Maybe over the Summer.
I was waiting for the HDMI output. When I bought my big 'ol LCD tv to hang on the wall, 1080p capabilities became important to me.
I'm a little wary though -- the PS3 has BluRay which has about 5x the capacity of HD-DVD... the HD-DVD is an aditional $149 or so.
... but then there's Halo 3.

Hey Kev, don't get one right away. They're coming out with a new 360. 120 gigs. All high def. It's supposed to be $600.00. I'm not sure about the release date, but it's supposed to be better than the original 360.

The "Elite." That's the one I'm talking about with the HDMI cable.
It's also black in color which to me is a good thing. It'd match my other components (except for the Wii).

I swore we would never get a game console but...
We bought a Wii yesterday, at the Athens Toys-R-Us. Evidently Nintendo just released a big shipment. My son and husband walked in around noon and asked if they had any in stock.
I love that the games are more active. You don't just sit there, you get up and swing your arms. They're really fun for parents and kids to play together.

I picked one up this weekend, too - the easy way is to just find the ads for Target/Best Buy/Circuit City online a couple days before, then get there early Sunday. Best Buys here all had 24, so pretty much everyone there by 10 got one.
The only downside was they enforced the "one wiimote per customer" thing - so yeah, drunken tennis later required another trip back, but more than worth it.
Tiger 07 is pretty much the sickness, even with a touch of jank in the controls.

Thanks for the tips everyone! I lucked out and got one at toysrus.com this morning. I had to pay 10 bucks for shipping, but it's worth it not to drag myself around town and wait for stores to open (def. had fun on Cinqo de Mayo).

I still don't have one. Dumbest mistake on my part. I purposely didn't get one just b/c I knew school would be kicking my butt this semester. I know me. Wii or homework? I finally got to play it at a friends house and could literally beat myself over the head with something for not getting one. Now I'm trolling around trying to find one.

I think parents will also favor this system because it encourages physical activity. It won't replace an old fashion work-out, but it will definately burn some calories. I wonder had Nintendo taken that into consideration, or it's just a coincidence.

LOL! That's exactly the argument that my 9-year-old keeps making. "But Dad, you get exercise while you're playing it."
I will admit that it looks way cool. He's still not getting one, though.

My friend bought one yesterday. We played the Wii Sports games, they were pretty fun. I went undefeated in boxing and I'm actually pretty sore from it.

Haha yeah silly Sony. They didn't do any thinking and randomly picked a price tag and number to release to US customers. Haha.
