Even though Georgia re-elected Sonny I am glad overall with the Democrats gains across the country.

Yeah, the Boston Globe can't help falling over itself in excitement of a Dem. governor and legislature. After reading this morning's edition, I don't know how ANYONE can defend the impartiality of that paper.

That said, Patrick ran a solid campaign, and he was really the only one who did so. Kerry Healey is extremely smart, but she just didn't run a good campaign.

Same here. And Sonny really isn't all that bad - he's former Dem after all.

I grew up in IL and am a Democrat--so it's not like I was really ever needed to vote there. 1st time I lived in MO was the 1st time I was allowed to vote for President--and I voted absentee in IL. That was dumb. Moved to MA and voted there (again, being a Dem didn't matter much--although I DID vote for Shannon O'Brien over Mitt Romney--not like that ended up helping). Moved back to MO and registered to vote here--and thankfully finally made a difference

. JIM (no)TALENT SUCKS--I'm happy he didn't get elected. Claire McCaskill isn't my favorite person--but she's a helluva lot better than (no)Talent. I'm also happy that the Stem Cell Research Amendment has seemed to pass (take that Rush Limbaugh!).

I'm moving again at the end of the year--most likely to a Blue State (not that I'm doing that purposely--I'm moving anyway but my choices are decidedly to 'Blue' places), but I'm happy that I got to see effective change in Missouri.

Voting was easy here--I chose computer over paper ballot--but both were A LOT nicer than the old butterfly ballots we had. There were no stickers--we were told the Election Commission didn't want to spend the money for them this year

What I don't understand about this state is why do people think it's so bad to be able to sell wine in all grocery stores? Luckily, my grocery store is one of the 3 allowed in a chain to sell liquor.

I would like to be happy with the election results in my home state but we did some pretty stupid things yesterday.

I voted yesterday, but none of it really counted since I voted mostly libertarian - because I would like to see a viable 3 party system here, and because I didn't care for anyone running in the normal parties.

That's what I did by voting Green in Illinois. And besides getting 10% of the vote, the Green Party is now a major party. I'm a big fan of multi-party politics and I hate how it's been engineered by the two parties in power to stay a two party system

Disappointing setback.

I was really surprise with the Green party turn out. 49% to Blagojevich, 40% to Topinka and 10% to Whitney. That's a greater turn out than at least from what I've seen in the past (mostly in the 5% range). I could definitely see the Green party rising.

Boston Globe is a paper in a super liberal blue state. I never had any delusions of its impartiality. It's like Fox News, only liberal!

I really don't get the wine thing either. We can make gay marriage legal, but wine in supermarkets? Think of the children!

I think a lot of people were not happy with the choice between Blagojevich and Topinka. I also think Topinka's choice of running mate really hurt her - I know a lot of people (especially women) who would have had no problem voting for her, but could not stand Birkett and didn't want him anywhere near the governor's mansion. (he is dreadful!)

That said, it is a beautiful day to be a Democrat.

Cosign! I toyed with the idea of the voting for Whitney, but in the end, I held my nose and voted for Blago. Can't stand Birkett, so Topinka wasn't really an option.

I'm watching the Cook County Board election pretty closely, though. Anyone else smell a recount coming?

Seriously co-sign. I am SO glad I don't have to see her whiny commercials anymore. I can't decide if she's manly or just horsey?

That is the best thing about the day after election day. No more damn commercials. No more Lynn Swann talking but not really saying a damn thing. No more of Rick Santorum pimping out his family.

Speaking of Rick- did you see the pictures of his family last night? His kids were dressed like they were Amish. Really, you can be super-Catholics and still dress with some amount of self respect and style. God won't look down upon you for being at least slightly stylish.
