^ How do you get a GPA for your PhD? Must be a totally different system, as we either get it (with minor corrections or 3 month corrections from the viva) or don't.

Our GPAs are recorded on transcripts and reported to the department and graduate school. We can access our GPAs on line, too. It's only to ensure that no student is struggling to get the minimum 3.0 requirement to continue in the program. That's the ONLY reason your GPA for many PhD programs is remotely important. Almost no employer will EVER ask you what your GPA was for your PhD and people with an understanding of what graduate school is about (for their field) won't report it on their curriculum vitae/resume`.
GPAs in general don't matter unless you have to submit a transcript to a school, organization, or employer that cares about GPAs.

3.72 undergrad
When I had to drop out of grad school (because my daughter arrived on the scene), I was carrying a 3.72 in grad school
I always thought that was weird.. like.. is that the only GPA I was ever going to have? I also wondered if I was just going to get that no matter how much or how little work I put into it? Hmmm... we'll never know I guess!

I graduated with a 2.8 as a chemistry undergrad (which was good enough to get me into a great grad school).
As a master's student I graduated with a 3.3 .

I'm currently at a comfortable 3.75, but I'm an English major. I will readily admit that it's not a difficult major at all. Good enough for me to get into a decent grad school and put me in the running for an assistantship.

Around 3.8 overall and 4.0 in my major. If I like something, I tend to be really good at it. Or maybe it's if I'm really good at something, I tend to like it. Something like that!
