As such I will decline to translate Earp's post in this thread, however I do them on request.

I don't remember the dates from the article, but will it be a while before we know how the presentations went?

Does this have to do with anything of posting?

Tom, I've already asked that this post be brought back on topic. Please do not contribute to the melee.

I will be honest and say I don't know how the whole Greek Affairs-type stuff works when a chapter closes, but based on the article, it sounds like they started looking for another the chapter the second that the ADPi chapter closed.

For those of you who are curious, ADPi closed at Northwestern due to low membership and a consequent inability to remain financial solvent. A full story can be found at here.

ADPi was recolonized at Northwestern in 2000 and has been suffering from lower than average membership over the past few years. It was the newest sorority colonization at NU.

The extension opportunity provided by Northwestern Panhellenic was a direct result of loosing ADPi and a strong desire to return quotas back to where they were with 12 sororities on campus. All Panhellenic groups not represented at Northwestern were invited to participate in the extension process.

That would make me think that the school needs to stay at eleven chapters. They're too focused on quota and not enough on total, though it doesn't say what total is currently. Adding a 12th chapter only makes quota go down by maybe 4 girls if they have a really huge turnout for formal recruitment. The first article said they're expecting at least 400 to go through FR in the winter. At 400/11=37, 400/12=34. If FR shoots up to 500, it's 500/11=46 and 500/12=42. Unless the average chapter only has 30-50 members then they should be able to handle NM classes of those sizes.

Alright, I just checked Northwestern's Greek Life website. All the chapters are listed as having 100+ members. They can definitely handle have NM classes of 30-50. IMHO they should wait a couple years before colonizing another chapter.

The poster above you is a boy. As such, I think he may be confusing the meanings of the words "quota" and "total."

It makes more sense to say they want total/ceiling back to where it was and not super duper hella high.

The article said the presentations would take place w/in the next thirty days. So, I'm guessing we'll know sometime around Thanksgiving?
